5g Backup Modem

Has anyone ever set up FreePBX with a backup cell modem in the event the primary network connection fails? I know if I plug in a secondary network connection, it should show up in System Admin > Network Settings. But if I only want it used in the event of a failure of the primary network connection, is there any way to automate that in FreePBX?
I guess there are a gazillion ways to solve this, but this is what I came up with because our primary internet was flaky for some time. The secondary internet is not cellular but I guess that would not make a difference if it were.
I am an electrical contractor I have been doing commercial work since the early 1990s. Most of the units I have seen being used are APC, CyberPower, and Tripp Lite. We have, on occasion, had to replace the batteries or the complete units. I have not noticed any issues from any of those three.
You might want to consider getting in touch with the technical support department of any of those three companies. They would probably be willing to go over what you are looking for and recommend what they feel would best suit you.
UPS may not be the answer you are looking for. I have a portable Honda generator for power outages. I can run a refrigerator, lights and electronic equipment. I find my internet is always out during power outages even when I power up the modem/router. Something upstream from me also needs power and that is always also out. I use the mobile hotspot on my phone to get on the internet during these occurrences. But your situation may be different and may be different depending on how widespread the power outage is.
With Internet you would need to keep power on for both the modem and the separate router, if you have one. You might get 1/2 hour or less time depending upon your computer draw. Also, you might consider an LED bulb on that same circuit to reduce power draw.
I have lately purchased UPSs at Costco in the $100 range. The internal batteries will fail after a couple years. Those batteries are fairly easy to replace, even for a neophyte. The batteries are generally the same ones used for electric gate openers and I can buy them at Home Depot. I also have bought a pack of them on Amazon at a tremendous savings.
Another drawback to power outages and Internet is this: If your neighborhood is out of power, the amplifiers for Internet may be out also. Here in our rural area, someone will take out a telephone pole and Internet, Phone and power all go out (your mileage may differ). Because of logistics here, a single pole out may mean hundreds of us are without those utilities for 6 hours or more. The replacement poles are kept an hour or two drive away. Then they have to dig in rock to set a new pole. Fun Times!
If you are only concerned about your inhouse connections like backing up data from a computer to a local NAS network connected disk drive, or you have a local drive with video/audio and want to keep that running, then you may be fine. I personally have lots of content on a locally connected computer that I can stream from.
It created a hotspot so to speak for my cellphone. It used the charging port to connect to a USB port on mydesktop computer. I used my cellphone dataplan to access the internet on my desktop through that cable. I had lost my internet connection for a few days due to a storm but was able to use the desktop and my cellphone to browse the internet, receive mail and yes, even download Windows updates.
But not the fridge. We powered up the aux generator 2-3 times a day for the fridge. Since fuel was precious and fuel docks often miles away, we created a firm schedule how many times a day we could open the door.
Many USB modems these days operate in HiLink mode, where they are effectively a router and allocate an IP to the connection via DHCP. These wont work with the ER605 , it needs a modem that will operate in 'stick' mode. Some modems can be switched between modes but I'm not sure on the 8872
Hi - is it possible to set the WAN port as the primary internet connection and the Modem as the standby internet connection? IF the WAN port can establish internet connection, I want the outgoing traffice routed thru the WAN port. But if there is no internet connection on the WAN port, I need the outgoing internet connection routed thru the Modem.

If you are using a flexy or cosy 131 device then you just need to update to firmware version 12.3s0PR and you can set the WAN fallback by going through the internet wizard twice.
If you simply want to send a text message to bring the modem online, no scripting is required to have cellular fallback. Just set up the cellular, then the Ethernet. If the unit goes offline for lack of an Ethernet connection you can simply text it to wake it up.
I've gone through the steps of unlinking Dropbox from each computer. Checking their names in System Preferences and also in the Security tab of my Dropbox account. The computer names are correct in Dropbox but the backup feature is still creating the folders as just Mac
OK, they are finally rolling up a Beta update for Dropbox Backup that will let you rename and I was able to do it! You can do go through Dropbox Backup in the app, disable the backups on all the computers there, and then restart them. Then, re-enable backups and it should move you over to beta so you can now rename things!
I noticed that my Desktop folder was moved in there and the actual Desktop folder is now a symlink pointing to Desktop in My Mac (123.dhcp.mysip.com), and while I could rename it and fix the symlink, it seems like this may cause issues with Dropbox looking at the wrong places in the future, e.g. when adding/removing backup folders at the very least.

I assumed that what you suggested could work, though that would mean I have to set-up all the specific folders I want to sync on my laptop all over again, which is a bit of an overkill for such a simple rename
Has anyone used a Netgear 4G LTE Modem (LB2120) as a backup WAN connection on a FortiGate. The primary WAN 1 connection will be a fiber connection. Would like a fail-over WAN 2 connection using SD-WAN in the event the fiber connection fails. Are there other alternatives to this that should instead be considered?
As long as it's connected over ethernet, the brand/internet media type shouldn't be a matter. It could be in router mode to have another subnet between the modem/router and your FGT or in bridge mode that the modem provides just media conversion. Either way it's just another internet connection.

At this point we should have a working cellular interface.You can test it by disabling your main Internet interface (eg: Cable / ADSL / Ethernet / whatever) temporarily (remember to turn safe mode on before you accidentally delete it!!).Your Internet should still work and you should see activity on the PPP / LTE interface.

You can now have your Mikrotik router configured with a backup WAN interface using a 3G or LTE USB modem.And some very simple routing rules to switch to the backup link if the primary fails.(Or, you can just disable the primary interface).

If you need to distribute your WLAN across a large area with poor ethernet availability, mesh APs will be best.
