Role: Senior VMware Engineer

Location :  REMOTE

Duration : Long -Term 

We are seeking an experienced Senior VMware Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize enterprise virtualization environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware technologies and play a key role in driving infrastructure stability, scalability, and performance across on-premises and hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design & Implementation

• Design and deploy VMware-based virtualization solutions (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
• Architect high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity solutions.
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and consolidation projects.

Administration & Operations

• Manage and maintain VMware environments, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
• Administer ESXi hosts, clusters, datastores, and virtual machines.
• Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of VMware components.
• Monitor infrastructure using tools like vRealize Operations or equivalent.

Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting

• Analyze performance metrics and optimize VM, storage, and network resources.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to compute, storage, and networking layers.
• Provide L2/L3 support for virtualization-related incidents.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerCLI, Python, or similar tools.
• Automate routine operational tasks for improved efficiency.

Storage & Networking Integration

• Work with SAN/NAS storage technologies (VMFS, NFS, vSAN).
• Implement and manage virtual networking (vSwitches, distributed switches, NSX knowledge preferred).

Security & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with security policies, hardening guidelines, and best practices.
• Implement RBAC, patching policies, and vulnerability management.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with cloud, network, and security teams for hybrid infrastructure solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and operations teams.
• Participate in audits, documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with: 
• VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
• VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion
• Experience with: 
• VMware vSAN or other storage integrations
• VMware NSX (preferred)
• Backup & recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault, etc.)
• Scripting knowledge: PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Python
• Good understanding of: 
• Networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, load balancing)
• Storage concepts (RAID, IOPS, latency)

Experience

• 10+ years in IT infrastructure, with significant VMware administration experience
• Proven track record in managing large-scale virtualized environments
• Experience in data center operations and migrations

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Advantage
• Relevant certifications in storage, networking, or cloud (Azure/AWS)
