Hello there,

i unterstand Tink supports these two encryption modes when it comes to authenticated encryption of streaming data. Do they demonstrate their strength in different use cases? What would you recommend when you simply want to do authenticated encryption on an uploaded file of the size of up to 25 MB?

Best regards,
Denis

Hi Denis,

AES-GCM should be faster, but AES-CTR-HMAC is more conservative and safer. We always want to provide some option for users that don't like the fragility of AES-GCM.
