The default Windows desktop isn't known for being elegant. It's functional, sure, but that's about it. Luckily there are many ways to customize Windows 10, including installing a new theme or skin pack.
There are several versions of the Simplify 10 theme included in this bundle, but we think the Light Pack version is the most elegant. All the main elements are flattened and simplified, with most of the extraneous lines and separators removed from Windows Explorer. There is still some color to be found, including in the attractive wallpapers, but everything is kept low-key. Simplify 10 isn't free, but at just $7 for 12 different themes, it's not a bad deal.
This dark Windows 10 skin pack changes and simplifies several key OS elements, including Windows Explorer, menus, and desktop UI elements. The changes to the Taskbar are particularly effective and really help the overall style. The dominant color accent is an attractive blue. Combined with the dark background for windows and menus, and the muted desktop wallpaper, the result is elegant and different.
Grey Eve is possibly the ultimate minimalist theme for Windows 10. It changes every main element of the OS to a shade of grey, including the Windows Explorer, menus, windows, folders, and the desktop wallpaper. Text, borders, and separators are picked out in white, giving your open windows and menus a distinct and classy look. It looks a bit like a Windows high-contrast theme, and could arguably be used as such, just with a lot more style!
Windows 10 skin packs don't get much more elegant or simple than Minim VS. The Explorer, icons, and menus in this theme all get subtly customized, yet everything is still clearly Windows 10. It definitely leans towards grey tones, so it might not be for you if you like a bit of color in your minimalism. But if you want a theme that looks classy, simple, and clean, this is the one.
Numix is a minimalist theme that manages to remain interesting. Quite a few of the UI elements are changed, but not to the same degree as some other themes/skin packs in this list. The main change is to Windows Explorer, making any open window a much more pleasant thing to look at. The sometimes subtle alterations might be hard to spot at first, but the overall effect is undeniably elegant.
Another great collection of simple, minimalist wallpapers. Unlike the Minimalist theme wallpaper set, these vary between dark and light. Many of the wallpapers are geometric in style, and several include a small splash of color. On a desktop clear of icons and folders, these simple and elegant wallpapers will give Windows 10 a minimalist look without having to patch the UI or install any new software.
This is a very elegant and smooth theme, with rounded corners, and many different options for colors and materials. It looks familiar, but at the same time slightly different from most GTK themes. We can have a quick look at Orchis theme defaults below here.
Plasma 5.24 looks the part. You get the classic desktop, defined and refined. By default, 5.24 usesa light theme with new window borders and decorations. I was able to quickly switch to my preferredsetup within seconds. Classic Breeze, HD scaling to 137.5%, dark panel plus light theme. Plasma alsolets you pick an accent color for your setup. No tomfoolery, no need to reach for the command line andhack CSS files. It's built-in, and it works majestically.
If you are looking for some fancy fonts in a theme and you are unable to find that, then you might be missing Mond rainmeter desktop skin. This theme is really amazing with such stylish UI, and you can customize that as per your desire. In this theme, you will get to keep track of time, date, the day of the week, Weather with visual representation, music player and other options for music. You will also find the recycle bin which shows the number of deleted files in it.
I had a look into your download to extract what may possibly be "the theme" or "the colors", but it seems those cannot be pulled out without taking over several other prefs, which is something I won't do, as I will never ever overwrite my setup for colors and looks, I value my functionally finetuned DO higher than it's appearance, so I guess I have to live on with my "windows 2000" look. o)
If you are a fan of cyberpunk themes or futuristic themes, this can be a good option. The default wallpaper, which gets installed through system settings, looks artistic and gives a nerd vibe to your desktop.
In some cases, you may find an interesting theme on some websites and unavailable in the KDE store. In this case, you need to download and extract the file. Once done, place the global theme folder of the downloaded theme in /.local/share/plasma/look-and-feel/ and Plasma Theme folder of the downloaded theme in /.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/.
However, unlike Windows, with KDE Plasma, if there's something you don't like, you can change it. That's part of the beauty with this desktop environment -- its flexibility. You can either do nothing to customize KDE Plasma (and still have a beautiful, simple desktop environment) or you can go crazy and customize it to your heart's content. Add widgets, customize the panel, retheme everything, configure the desktop menu, and so much more. One of the things I've always enjoyed about KDE Plasma is that it seems to grow with the user as they gain more experience with the desktop.
The only negative I can say about KDE Plasma on Manjaro 23.0 is that it's not quite as elegant out of the box as it could be. I've experienced plenty of Linux distributions that put on an absolute show with the default KDE Plasma theme, with transparency, blurred backgrounds, and much more. The version we see with Manjaro is fairly basic but can always be improved by installing a theme or two.
I have been experimenting about changing the windows theme via command line and I learned that by executing the theme file it is being applied by the Windows 10 as well. So in your batch file, you could use one of the following lines:
I believe the best you can do is open your target .msstyles file (in c:\windows\resources\themes), which will pop up the display properties box. At this point you could use window subclassing to programmatically click the right buttons.
