I had the message the first day Dynamiclink Media Server is not available on a Windows PC and opened a bug report. The next day when I tried to reproduce the problem again there was no missing Dynamiclink and Photoshop opened the dicument.

1. Ensure virus/security/parental control software hasn't trapped parts of Photoshop, Bridge, Premiere, Lightroom, or any Adobe app using DynamicLinkMediaServer. (Make sure the Adobe apps are added as exceptions if needed.)

How is it that PS6 needs internet connect where CS5 did not??? Why would the server need internet to conect to media already on the system? Is the a place to go to set that connect differently? I don't always have an internet connection. thanks, Uhane

Regarding calling Adobe, uhanepono, you're talking to the folks right at the forefront of Photoshop development here. Whomever you might reach via telephone would have to consult with Chris and the others here for the straight scoop.

Thanks much Noel, Chris etal ! I will seek truth among ye. So is there a work-around for the peerguardian blocking cunundrum? Is there an address I need to add to the allow list? How does CS6 differ from CS5 in it's file fetching protocols? Gotta run... back in a bit...Aloha, U

The other times DLMS will open/use a port when crossing the 32->64-bit or 32->32 bit boundary, like when going to Quicktime. However, unless you've signed up for the Headlights program, not one byte of info will be transmitted.

If anyone can still help. I have CS6 Extended, was able to open videos in PS up until a few minutes ago. In fact, was working on one... PS froze - had no choice but to close and reopen PS and now it won't let me open any videos and I get that DynamicLink Media Server mumbo jumbo. What happened??!! As well... just before that, if it has any affect at all... I was trying to open a video in Flash and it gave me all those options to convert my mpg video and it had me convert it to FLV of course, but I think it was also linking to the original video? I dion't know if that suddenly threw a wrench into the whole sysytem? But suddenly, out of nowhere, my comp froze, i reopened PS and I can no longer open videos. What's up?! PLEASE HELP!!

You probably have an unhappy version of DLMS already launched. Try closing all Adobe apps that might use DLMS (PS, Premiere, AE, Lightroom, Flash). Wait 30+ secconds, then restart PS. Or just restart the whole system. If it still occurs, please repost and include the exact text of the error message.

Thank you. I did close, shut down and restart but still had the same problem. Walked away from my computer... happily didn't break anything, rebooted and happy to say, we're back in business... THANKS!!!

So, I have been having this same problem also, I have tried rebooting my machine, I even reinstalled all of Adobe Creative Suite 6, and it still either gets hung up while "Reading Video Format" and after a long time I just click cancel and it has an error message that says the "Could not complete your request because the DynamicLink Media Server is not available" or it completely freezes there and I have to end it with the task manager, or it gets past that, on to the next dialogue window, where I get to choose a couple options about the import, and then it freezes after that window.

Hi A little further along. I tried to connect bridge to PS6 without an intereent connection and failed and bridge crashed as it always does when I don't have an internet connection. I would love it if one of you tried the same thing to see if it's just my system config or if you, too, get similar results. I also was unable to open any media into PS6 without internet connect bypassing bridge, getting the same dynamic server fail message. So it fails whether I am routing through bridge or not. Below are screen shots. How can I get the 2 apps to connect to this dynamic server that is not connected to the internet without having to have an internet connection? Aloha, Uhane

these are all the processes running when trying to open media via bridge in PS6 while not connected to the internet and with Peerguardian not running. Where on this list would be the "dynamic server"?

The ONLY thing I get is when I try to import my AE project into Adobe Media Encoder, it just says " connecting to Dynamic Link server" for a while, then when it ends, it says could not connect to the Dynamic Link server.

This morning I decided to try pulling out the entire Adobe Preferences folder, User:Preferences:Adobe and just put back Adobe:After Effects, and After Effects CS5 booted perfectly. It boots quickly and I don't even get the dynamiclinkmanager crash that I have been getting.

And I it seems to have created a new folder in my new Adobe folder, the Adobe QT32server:1.0:TraceDatabase.txt and the dynamiclinkmananger:2.0:memorybalancers5.xml was created this time as well. I then quit after effects, and put back all the other preference files into that folder, though not replacing any of the new versions that were created, and once again After Effect boots and works.

In the past, sharing media assets among post-production applications required you to render and export your work from one application before importing it into another. This workflow was inefficient and time-consuming. If you wanted to change the original asset, you rendered and exported the asset again. Multiple rendered and exported versions of an asset consume disk space, and they can lead to file-management challenges.

Dynamic Link offers an alternative to this workflow. You can create dynamic links between After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. Creating a dynamic link is as simple as importing any other type of asset. Dynamically linked assets appear with unique icons and label colors to help you identify them. Dynamic links are saved in projects generated by these applications.

You can replace selected clips in Adobe Premiere Pro with a dynamically linked After Effects composition based on those clips. The new composition inherits the sequence settings from Adobe Premiere Pro.

Creating a new dynamically linked composition from Adobe Premiere Pro launches After Effects. After Effects then creates a project and composition with the dimensions, pixel aspect ratio, frame rate, and audio sample rate of the originating project. (If After Effects is already running, it creates a composition in the current project.) The new composition name is based on the Adobe Premiere Pro project name, followed by Linked Comp [x].

In Adobe Premiere Pro, choose File > Adobe Dynamic Link > New After Effects Composition. In the 2014 version of Premiere Pro, you can import compositions using Media Browser. See the following sections in Premiere Pro for more information:

When you create a dynamically linked After Effects composition, the composition duration is set to 30 seconds. To change the duration, select the composition in After Effects, choose Composition > Composition Settings. Click the Basic tab, and specify a new value for Duration.

Use the Edit Original command in Adobe Premiere Pro to modify a linked After Effects composition. Once the composition is open in After Effects, you can change the composition without having to use the Edit Original command again.

Youcan change the name of the composition in After Effects aftercreating a dynamic link to it from Adobe Premiere Pro.Adobe Premiere Pro does not update the linkedcomposition name in the Project panel. Adobe Premiere Prodoes retain the dynamic link, however.

Creating an Adobe Premiere Pro sequence from After Effects launches Adobe Premiere Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro then creates a project and sequence with the dimensions, pixel aspect ratio, frame rate, and audio sample rate of the originating project. (If Adobe Premiere Pro is already running, it creates a sequence in the current project.)

A linked clip can refer to a complex source composition. Actions you perform on the source composition require additional processing time depending on the complexity. After Effects applies the actions and make the final data available to Adobe Premiere Pro using the global performance cache and the persistent disk cache features. These features improve the After Effects performance by using the cached frames when Premiere Pro requests the frames.

To encode After Effects compositions, you must add the item to the encoding queue in Adobe Media Encoder, and then select encoding presets or create your own custom settings for rendering. In After Effects, you can add a composition to Media Encoder queue using one of the following options:

I am trying to drop audio into a new video timeline in Photoshop CC 2018 and I keep receiving this error message: "Could not complete request because the dynamiclink media server is not available." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop, restarted computer, and spent 2 hours on chat with adobe letting them try and figure it out with absolutely no resolution. This worked at school and it worked on a friend's computer, both are photoshop 2017, but it will not work on mine with photoshop 2018.

Without exact system info and details about your audio file nobody can tell you much. Generally those issues come down to blockages outside of PS like virus scanners locking files or shutting tdown those auxiliary processes, so start by looking there. Same for accessing system audio drivers and al lthat good stuff....

I'm not really sure what you are saying here. But let's say, if I am trying to add video to Photoshop in a corporate environment where I have zero local admin capabilities on my system (e.g. Needed to get technical services to install Photoshop) would this suggest that even considering attempting to utilize this feature is a non-starter?

I have a similar issue running Mac High Sierra 10.13.1 and Photoshop CC2018. I didn't have any security/virus software running at the time and I was getting the same error message. I restarted and also ran disk utility and also looked at the activity monitor and didn't see any culprits.
