Save Presets Photoshop

Same here, it remembers other settings, but because they don't want you to be able to use the 'legacy' feature they intentionally make it reset every time, I've been waiting for an update for over a year paying for this, and it's not being addressed. All my other (even complex) settings are all intact, and even move between computers for me.

So riddle me this... it doesn't even save it for the current session in Windows 10 (PS 20.0.4)! I even hold the Alt key so the button displays "Remember" and I click it, and it turns blue...? And then I tried both saving a file or simply clicking done, and either way, it totally forgets my settings.

This is super frustrating and making me waste hours a week! I have to save GIFs from video clips for the blog posts I've been hired to do. I have 4 saved GIF presets which usually are good enough for what I need so that I don't have to fiddle with settings and the best one can be saved. I'd like these 4 presets to load in the 4up view, but instead, only 2 do, and the others are "original" and another un-named. So I have to wait (sometimes up to five minutes) for all 4 GIFs to render, 2 of them with totally incorrect settings. Put the correct presets on and wait another few minutes for each. Then set the correct 50% scale I use all the time and wait for all 4 to render AGAIN. If all 4 loaded correctly the first time this wouldn't be a big deal. But I'm making 10-20 GIFs a week and I'm ready to pull my hair out that the "Remember" button does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Either give us another option for saving optimized animated GIFs, or keep the old tools working. The only other option I have is to upload these to something like Gfycat and pray the compression turns out decent.

It seems for me also I go in and it's sometimes inexplicably set to save as GIF despite me hardly ever using GIF. I saw this as a bug from 8 years ago but the discussion has been removed / moved.

Annoying that this is still broken.

I have been having this problem for a few months. I am using Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1 and Photoshop 2023 or Lightroom Classic. I have long used presets but now, after I save one, when I come back to it the next time, the saved preset does not retain any of the settings. I tried uninstalling Photoshop 2023, rebooting, then re-install Photoshop 2023. The presets still don't retain settings.

I also tried printing from Safari and made a preset in Safari and this one does work as it is supposed to. If I then switch back to Photoshop, the preset created while in Safari works properly in Photoshop. I tried one more time to create a preset while in Photoshop, but it still will not work.

This does not work with Sonoma. It causes the image to blow up to an outrageous size like 35"x35". I can save a preset but the preset will not work. It will remember the last setting. I have several printers I use, and it will remember all of the last used settings for each of the printers. I am using Intel processor on a Macbook Pro. My Photoshop is 2023 with all up to date through Creative Cloud. Really frustrating, needless to say. Any suggestions?

When I hold the spacebar in Lightroom, I get a stream of error blips that sounds like a machine gun. If I select "Print" while doing that, it just starts printing the image. Should resetting the print dialog box offer any confirmation or show that the dialog box has been "reset"?

The 18" width of the print (as the print head would go across the roll) was wider than the files 18" Specified Dimension. I tried everything from making sure the print was set at 100%. I tried Updating the OS, the Firmware, the Driver, adjusting the paper thickness - all to no avail.....................

It was this here forum post with some " cryptic" space bar press recomendation, that was hard to do BTW, to reset Photoshop's Print Preferences that I only found by googling my issue for the 19th time, that seemingly and hopefully fixed my issue.

As a Photoshop user since Photoshop 1.0 from way back in 1990, I find this problem and it's solution (or lack of) by Adobe to be BS. The problem should had been a "known issue" and some kind of SOMETHING from Adobe would had fixed it automatically with all those updates, verifications, and whatever. I have wasted my time, ink, paper and and and and my customer's happiness on this. I know these computers, and Mac OS updatings are conplex, But NO.... this should be solved automatically by Adobe..

This is (mostly) a Ventura bug and has been an issue from day one with presets (at least Epson), especially the ColorSync settings used differently in Adobe products than most others (to gray out the radio button with Application Manages Color). Sometimes it works; sometimes, it doesn't. Apple should be aware of this.

FWIW, in Lightroom Classic, you never want to use any such presets; the template stores all this for you. With Ventura, you still need to double-check everything is set correctly before hitting "Print"!

When you say "in Lightroom Classic, you never want to use any such presets; the template stores all this for you," how do you get things like Media Type, Output Resolution and checking High Speed (items in Print Settings) into the Lightroom template?

The printer presets no longer function, nor save. When specifying printer options, the driver defaults to the same standard (or default) presets. It will print properly when overridden, but when saving to either the Job or Custom options, nothing is saved, thus requiring manual specification on every job.

Cory, are you ready for this? I really didn't want to reverse the PS app as you suggested, so I just decided to print directly from LR Classic. Guess what...the EXACT SAME issue! None of the printer presets hold any recollection at all, and they are reset to the same defaults that I saw in PS....??? Thank you! David

These are the happiest birds I have ever seen! There were several flying around a small aviary at the Jacksonville Zoo and seemed most so pleased to have their pictures taken. Lots of fun to visit with them! They also make wonderful paintings! (See end of blog for more photo info.)

This is a rather short post, but it addresses a little problem I discovered when trying to use my favorite fonts saved as Tool Presets. Since I covered the Tool Presets in a recent blog (see Why Use the Tool Preset Panel? Photoshop Painters Listen Up!), and I consider them so extremely useful, this week I will show you how to save your favorite fonts and settings. For some reason it is a little tricky to add them to your documents, so the following screenshots have been created to give you a little heads up on how to do it.

Note that if you do not have many presets loaded in the Tool Preset Panel, many people will leave it open on their desktop. It is a quick way to switch between tools without having to select them in the Tool Panel or using a keyboard shortcut.

I am having the same problem. Presets that I saved a few weeks ago are fine - but I tried saving new ones - and went through all the steps with no errors - and yet - when i go to apply the presets they aren't there. Ugh.

Then I went to reinstall all the presets and create new ones. I created 15 new ones, they said saved to user presets when I finished each one and then I went to use them and only one is showing up. So frustrating!!!

I'm normally quite organized and had meant to finish the editing earlier in the day, but something had come up. So I found myself hammering away in photoshop. All was going well, with 20 minutes left.

Just when I was really getting somewhere and thought "Yes! I'm going to make it" the cat decided to saunter over and make that boggle-eyed interested face at my fingers. Perhaps as I was working so fast with the mouse and keyboard, she thought it was a game of pounce.

Breaking into a cold sweat, I rebooted Photoshop and no images were there. None. I went into Lightroom, kidding myself that perhaps the editing progress was saved, but no just RAW files were sitting there. Mocking me.

Luckily I changed the preferences from saving hourly to "auto save every 5 minutes" and kept checking with every update. ln a similar situation not even a year later, a power cut struck half-way through an editing marathon. But thankfully the images I'd been working on had been automatically saved by Photoshop.

So, to prevent the same thing from happening to you (cats or no cats). Here's how you quickly turn on and check your auto-save preferences in Photoshop so you can rest assured photoshop is saving the recovery information in the background while you edit:

3. Check the box that says "Automatically Save Recovery Information Every..." and choose your recovery period. I choose 5 minutes, but you can choose the timing that works best for you (recovery does use some processing, but not too much).

Love macOS Ventura but after updating all of my printer presets for the Toshiba copier at my work got scrambled. When trying to set them again the preset name would save but the settings would remain defaulted and any time you try and fix the preset settings they don't save so you can't click a preset and have the settings you want pulled up. This makes it very difficult to print and we're wasting paper. Any fix? I have a 2018 Mac mini with an intel core i7.

After nearly a year old fighting this issue in Ventura (and more recently Sonoma on my M2 Mac Mini), I was about to give up and go back to High Sierra, I finally found a solution that works through a tip on a similar thread on Adobe. I open any of my Photoshop files in Mac's "Preview" application, select my printer (in my case an Epson P900), choose my settings (size, sheet feed, Epson Watercolor Paper, etc.), and then save and name them as a preset. Now, when I go to print in Photoshop, these presets automatically appear and retain all my settings! This seems like an absurd workaround for a problem that Apple should have fixed a year ago, but it's fairly simple and, for me anyway, works like a charm. I hope this helps. I also hope Apple fixes this annoying problem soon!
