Thisdessert pizza is one of my favorite recipes to make for guests around the holidays, because it looks so stunningly beautiful and impressive no matter how you decorate it. I frosted mine with homemade nutella chocolate frosting and shredded coconut, then I used a cookie cutter to add the strawberry hearts. Other topping ideas include:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line an 8-inch springform pan with parchment, and set aside. (If you have only a regular pan, make sure the parchment goes up the sides, and be very careful lifting it out so the crust does not break. If you only have a 9-inch pan, you might try scaling all ingredients up 1.5 times.) In a measuring bowl, stir together all ingredients except frosting. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan, and use a second sheet of parchment to smush the dough out evenly, pressing down again and again until the dough covers the bottom of the pan. Bake 12 minutes on the center rack. Let cool at least 20 minutes before either frosting right in the pan or removing from the pan and then frosting. I cut the strawberries with a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
I love this and once again you saved my day I had nothing for my grand children and so I looked on Google and found these recipes and thank God I had the ingredients for these desserts. I love all your recipes and all your creations. Love, Tammy Hargis
The highlight of every visit was the dessert. There were a few fruity varieties (like raspberry cheesecake pizza), but I bypassed them all for the chocolate. Naturally, I wanted the recipe, but despite persistent interrogation of at least three employees, nobody seemed to be able to tell me what was actually in it!
Much (delicious) research ensued before I finally got the recipe down, and the rest is history. This was one of the first recipes I shared on the blog and has remained one of my most popular recipes ever since (for good reason!).
Hi Hannah! The active dry yeast probably caused some issues with the crust. The yeast wont have time to activate and could end up making the crust taste like flour. ? I hope it goes better next time. ?
Thank you so much, Liz! I am so glad you enjoyed it so much! I bet warming it in an air fryer was awesome. I will have to give it a try some time (if I can ever keep my husband from eating the whole thing!) ? ?
Hello people! Soo sorry, i went missing for sometime. I was in Kerala, enjoying my vacation. Hah! It was a much needed break for me n Fadal, little Hamad was a little cranky though, as it was a new place for him. But he got adjusted pretty soon.
I must say that monsoon is the best time to visit Kerala. Monsoon creates magic there, oooh the fresh smell of the sand, the greenery and the beautiful nature. You must go there to experience it yourself. I loved the street food there too. Missing the place and people there sooo much. ?
Here i made a very moist and rich chocolate sheet cake and topped it with milk chocolate ganache and white chocolate ganache. Then i added different toppings like maltesers, hersheys white chocolate, m&ms, chocolate shavings, ferraro rocher and snickers. Actually you can add whatever topping you like. I think you all should definitely try making this.
Let me tell you, preparing a surprise birthday pizza cookie cake for someone you live with is not an easy task. Even the ingredients had to be hidden and I banned him for stepping foot in or even peeking into the kitchen.
Since the man also loves Oreos I stuffed the pizza cookie cake itself with chopped Oreos and white chocolate chips. I made sure to hide any black pieces of Oreo that appears on the outer edges of the cake in order to preserve the eventual tan color the cookie dough would turn when baked to resemble pizza dough.
The beautiful, tender crust that is just oh-so-slightly sweet and barely crispy helps guide those trifecta of chocolate chips all the way to your mouth for the perfect crunch and ooze factor (can you tell I have officially converted to the I LOVE chocolate pizza camp?).
If you find your cakes are doming (aka the center of the cake is significantly higher than the sides), or that the sides of your cakes come out dry, this is likely because the outside of your cake is cooking much faster than the inside of your cake.
The beauty of this chocolate pizza cake is that you get to try out 3 different flavours of buttercream at once. If you do not like Nutella, Vanilla or Coffee, feel free to switch out these flavours for a different one. Do this after splitting the buttercream into 3 portions (aka during step 8 of the buttercream).
ADoing a pizza cake. Having trouble deciding what to use to make the different toppings. Had thought I could melt gummy bears then cut out different shapes for the green peppers and onions but a trial of that left a big sticky mess. Any suggestions please? Really don't want to have to use fondant. Thanks!
If you really prefer to go the candy direction, how about cutting up fruit roll-ups in the appropriate colors? Shaved white chocolate might work for the cheese. When I've done pizza toppings in the past I've always used fondant. Easy to color and sculpt to look very realistic. Personally don't like candy stuck in my cake. It's a texture thing for me.
Not sure on ideas that are not fondant related. I can have a think and if I think of any il let you know, but for the cheese you can freeze fondant and grate it on. Will look like real grated cheese and have the same thickness and length as normal grated cheese.
Deep red icing on the top (or red fondant with some brown mixed in), well refrigerated, covered in warmed up and stirred (so it's easily spread) seedless strawberry preserves makes great sauce! I used toasted shredded coconut for the cheese. My pepperoni were cutout fondant circles (deep red.dried on crumpled foil. dusted randomly with cocoa petal dust. lightly splattered with white airbrush paint. very lightly sprayed with PAM for a nice greasy look).
Colored a slab of fondant (most of a Wilton fondant block.... I like the Wilton for this kind of work because it's stiffer and more rigid than my homemade fondant) = made it a dark beige by adding a little brown and a little orange coloring. I did not add any tylose or gumtex to this because I didn't want it to get so hard that it would crack.
For the crust: I covered the board by taking log shaped pieces and molding a crust rim around the 16" foam cake board and roughly shaping with my fingers. I patted out a thin layer of this fondant over the rest of the board.
For the Pepperoni : I colored fondant with red/burgundy/brown to get the pepperoni color and added gumtex. I rolled this out not-too-thin and cut out rounds (approx. 2" ?) and laid on slightly-scrunched aluminum foil to dry.
For the cheese: I colored small pieces of fondant - one yellow, one orange - and added gumtex. I rolled these really thin and then just ran a round pastry cutter wheel back and forth over it, making really thin strands. These rolled and curled as I cut. I just let them lie there and dry a bit - which they did very quickly. Then I scattered the shredded cheese all over the pizza.
Hope this helps. The pizza was really fun to do and added so much to the cake. It didn't take nearly as long to do as I thought it might. My grandson loved eating the fondant pepperoni, olives, and cheese!
ycknits: that's awesome. Looks Real. All I've done is pizza cookies and I bought a pizza toppings chocolate mold and put candy melts in it. (pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers) You could of course put fondant in the molds also.
AI'm making a pizza cake I would like to leave the edges of cake bare but Im afraid Iit will get dry there. Any suggestions like maybe simple syrup recipe or can I glaze it with something yummy to keep it moist. My original plan was fondant then airbrushed but would like it to be easy. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!!
Combine flour, cocoa, soda, and salt. Cream butter and sugar, beat in oil, eggs, and vanilla. Add the milk alternating with dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Pour into greased 139 pan and sprinkle chips over top. Bake 55 minutes in 325 oven.
Mix all the ingredients together and spread in a greased 139 pan. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top. *This can get salty, depending on your cheese, so back off on the salt if you are concerned.
Place zucchini, eggs, salt, pepper, parsley, and cheese in a large bowl and mix well. Add flour to bind ingredients. Heat oil in a large skillet. Drop zucchini mixture by spoonfuls in hot oil and brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot or cold.
All I did was beat 4 eggs with 3 cups shredded zucchini, salt and pepper to taste, a handful of parmesan, 1/4 cup olive oil, and a 1/2 tsp yeast (optional for flavor).Line a baking sheet with foil, greased well and spread the zucchini mixture over; bake at 425 10 minutes or so, until set looking, remove from oven, flip over on another greased baking sheet, bake a few minutes more. Top with your pizza toppings and bake until cheese is melted.
There is nothing better or simpler than the Zucchini Squares. My family loves them as do my friends and neighbors who ask me to bring them to any event. I like to make several batches at once and they can be heated or eaten at room temp.
Directions:
Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla and oil until blended. Stir in zucchini.
Sift flour and dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Fold in blueberries, then pour into a 912 greased cake pans. Sprinkle with a bit extra sugar (a few Tbsp) for a crunchy top. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
When I visited my Canadian cousins as a child, I noticed many differences in our eating habits. No, they didn't douse every food in maple syrup, or gorge on butter tart and poutine. The differences were stealthier and more insidious. The milk came in bags instead of cartons or plastic jugs. They ate Entenmann's chocolate fudge cake for breakfast (ok, that just wasn't fair). And then there was the Canadians' cavalier behavior regarding leftover pizza.
