Hello,so i have Asus ROG Phone 6 (16GB/512GB version) for half a year now and i have a weird issue recently.
The phone will sometimes freeze when i using the camera app/or doing anything with the camera like scanning QR codes, it'll crash and stuck in a boot loop for a while but it eventually boot back in the system.I clear the cache as someone here in the forum told me but it stills persist.Appearantly they didn't EVEN BOTHER to fix this in the new Android 13 patch.
Anyone here got the same problem as mine ? All of us with this bug should gather around and tell Asus all about it.I'm pissed. This probably going to be my last Asus product, ever. This is definitely not about the hardware, it's more about the apps/software.And please don't pull that "send it to repair center" shtick to me,i don't even think they know this bug/and it's time consuming/not solves anything at all.
asus said to go to the service center, but what about those who bought it a long time ago, or who do not have it in the country this is a 100% firmware problem, I also started to show up after a long time it only helps to close access to all applications to the camera The opening appeared in the latest versions of Android 12 it was working fine before the more times the phone turns off, the longer it takes to reboot, which clearly indicates a problematic firmware
I bought mine on preorder and still have a 1 year warranty. So everyone should have it still. Not to excuse the problem. This is making this phone very difficult to own. I use the camera multiple times a day for work and and the constant rebooting and boot loops are annoying.
I've downloaded Google camera - what's interesting is google camera launches, but it seems like the "bottom" camera (12MP) works, but the "top" camera (64MP) doesn't. What I mean by works or doesn't is that google camera let's me select which lens I'm using - so if I use the 12MP everything works, but if I select the 64MP lens - nothing works.
Regarding the native Asus camera app - I guess something in the software doesn't like that the 64MP isn't working and so - you basically see a "black-screen". However, if you push around where the various camera modes are - you'll eventually find that PANO mode. What happens is the display now works - - why because by default the PANO mode using the 12MP lens.
There are 2 modes that directly work when going into them:
- PANO - this always seems to work as PANO defaults to using the 12MP lens
- VIDEO - this "works" as long as hyper-steady is "on"
Jesus Christ man, everything you said worked out EXACTLY the same for me. It appears to be a common problem, and only fully solved through customer service, but to my luck my warranty expired a few months back and people with similar problems reported that the cost of fixing it outside the warranty is almost more than the price of a new Zenfone 8 in my country and this is INFURIATING. Please keep us informed if a full factory reset changes anything, even though I saw some people saying it doesn't change anything.
Further testing showed that while the 64MP camera does open on the PRO mode after coming from PANO, the focus is very botched and trying to adjust just freezes the camera as usual. Maybe this can mean that there's something wrong with the focusing mechanism/software?
From the accounts of people that sent their phones to customer service (out of warranty) in my country, I found out that what the service does is to replace the phone's motherboard and camera module, it takes almost a month to do it and it costs about what a brand new Zenfone 8 would.
I've dropped my Zenfone 7 (It fell off my pocket onto a hard wood floor) and ever since, the camera flip mechanism isn't working anymore, and the camera is loose (if I shake my phone, the camera pops out).
Most annoyingly, when I use my phone, the camera tries to open, god knows why, and since it's not working anymore, it's just making noise and then displaying an error message (make sure nothing is obstructing the camera and try again).
Yes, it's my fault because I dropped the phone, but phones will inevitably fall right?? It's annoying that the flip doesn't work anymore, but I can always manually open the camera. I just want my phone to stop trying to open the camera when I'm just trying to read emails??
Exact same thing happened to me so I put some double sided tape on the back of the camera and it stays put now. If you still have the case with the clip that locks the camera into place use that. The error message should go away after a restart, mine did. No selfie camera anymore but front facing camera works again . This is just my spare phone so not really a problem for me
That's the entire schtick of the sony, clean, efficient and fast. No need for bloated services taking up performance and adding difficulty when owning the phone for multiple years. You can still customize your phone by adding whatever launcher etc. you want.
The big things that sony has going for them is the camera software and the tuning you have in terms of sound/display. Anything else is stock and just works, if you want features and tons of services that soak battery off your phone buy a samsung.
As for your Rog camera bug, it's exacly as you pointed out, warm it up a bit, maybe some gaming, long recording or similair and the bugwill apear. You can up the anti and just keep recording until the circuit kills itself entirely.
Can't adjust the saturation of the display, which feels rather dull for me, nor can I assign a hardware button shortcut to open opencamera instead of the default photopro. Props for not locking out the zoom lense like samsung does tho.
I recently purchased two Wyze cams (cam and pan). I was having connection issues outside my network in the Wyze app where it would get stuck on step 1 of connecting. I was able to connect successfully about 20% of the time.
No problem. I really added it because I spoke to Wyze Tech Support the other day and mentioned I had a Asus router, but they all the suggested was the normal reboot everything. At least having them know that there is a default setting on Asus routers that directly influences Wyze cameras would be a good thing as I was 24 hours from returning them for a refund. My other IP cams (D-Link, Foscam, Amcrest) have no such issues with the router.
If you usually have just 1 or 2 devices with good signal needing data, then turning ATF off can help maximize throughput because data is basically just send out the buffers in FIFO so it works pretty well. ATF on will only hurt a little bit here, so this is probably too specific a case for most people that have a couple phones, tablets, laptop etc.
