Has anyone done any further work with this spreadsheet. I like the
setup but with no ability to select prestige classes and the limited
number of races it is not truly useful until it gets fleshed out. I
am kind of stuck in Iraq right now but do have e-mail sometimes.
Please let me know if there are any expansions to this or how I can
learn to program in the prestige classes and then it may be worth
registering.

I have looked thru the program a bit more since yesterday and one
additional issue that I see is limited expansion space for classes and
prestige classes. Can these fields be expanded or are you limited to
the few that are there.

I've had no trouble adding Prestige Classes and feats to my sheets.  The sheet is set up so that users can edit the data tabs easily.  In the control tab click on "Show all sheets" and move to the ClassD tab.  That's where you can add new classes using the green shaded areas.  Similarly, the other data tabs (SkillD, RaceD, etc.) can be used in the same way.

If you need any advice feel free to contact me.   I'm looking forward to the designer's upgrades.  The work that went into this was fantastic.

I'm not sure.  I haven't tried expanding that part and needed only a few to add the data that I did.  It looks like you've already tried to get in touch with the designer - I can't get in touch with them either.

I haven't tried with all of them in a while, but any table section
that has green cells all the way across it should be able to be
expanded by inserting rows somewhere in the *middle* of the green
section. (Don't insert them at the very end, or Excel may lose track
of where the data section really ends.) There are a few exceptions,
such as spells, where you might need to copy some additional formulas
in white squares at the ends of the rows. But I don't think classes
are one of the exceptions.

In general, rather than adding every possible class to the
spreadsheet, I would suggest adding only the ones you'll be using --
either the ones available in your campaign, or the ones your character
is actually taking. It saves a lot of time.

So just save a new version of the character spreadsheet for every
character. I was looking for more of a overall fast way to generate
multiple characters but this may work it will just take a bit more
time and customization for each class and then just add the race info
that you want to play.

I ran into a problem last night trying to enter the warforged.

It would never put up an armor class on the character sheet it always
just had ### in all of the slots even though the slots below it showed
the +2 for warforged etc.

Try widening that cell row.  If it's just showing #### it means that the information to display will not fit into the current width of the cell.   If it shows up as #NA or something similar it means that the formula can't be calculated correctly.

Hope this helps.  :-)

I have a few questions, too.   Recently I tried to add a new language but couldn't really find the right place to put it - if I put it under the classes or races tabs the names of the languages I added would not show up.  Also, I was wondering if it were possible to change the XP progression - my home campaign uses a slower progression.

Thanks.

Languages go in the table about halfway down on MiscD.

You can either edit the experience progression formula in cell E190 on
ClassD, or (simpler) just give less XP than the DMG says for a given
encounter. Or not bother: Timpani mostly ignores experience, taking
the user's word for what level they are on the Level - Classes sheet.
I'm pretty sure all that formula affects is the top of Char Sheet 2
and the Mods - Log sheet anyway.

Cheers,

P.S. I got this email working again, and could have a few choice words
to say about my hosting service. :P
