I've just uploaded version 4.0b8, using the same filename as before (
http://www.dndtools.com/timpani/timpani40beta.zip). Among the improvements over 4.0b6, it has
* Char Sheet 2, with space for recording income and expenses, equipment, experience, notes on class and race features, and miscellaneous notes. When you're looking for where to put your xp to be higher than level 1, put it in the experience log on Char Sheet 2.
* A summary of attacks next to the entry spaces on the Character Data sheet, so you can verify it's using what you meant.
I've also started fixing Timpani 4 to work in Open Office, but those changes aren't included in b8. If anyone has any bright ideas on how to make drop-down selection boxes that work in both programs, I'd love to hear them. OOo's import doesn't do the trick.

Yes, I expect that the Char Sheet 2 in T4 will look a lot like the one in T3.5. Some changes, certainly, but most of what was there before still applies.

I find that I really need a place to list equipment, along with
weights and costs. I can always fake it, but I miss the nifty
equipment list from the 3.5 version of Timpani. Any chance of putting
something like that into the 4e version?
So far the 4e beta has been working very nicely for me. Many thanks
for all your work!
