Good morning to all!

The following is a photo taken yesterday morning as the day was dawning on a city full of sleepy people.

This morning was much the same. The last few days we have had hundreds of of small quakes and a few bigger ones. A lot of these have been close and the experts say we could expect a major one at any time. The alert has gone from red alert to extreme, prompting lots of folks to sleep on their porches, patios or the street. Temporary hospitals are being erected. Earthquake experts from Japan, USA, Mexico, Venezuela and Cuba are here...

The greater Managua area is home to about 2 million people (Nicaragua has around 6 million). Some businesses have closed or are running less hours. And because of Holy Week the schools are closed as well.

There has been some damage already, but nothing extreme.

It would be nice to not have a major earthquake, but Managua does have a history of one about every forty years (the last one was in 1972). If it is to happen, I would rather have it happen and get it over with. Then we can deal with the damage and go on. I know that sounds like someone who has never gone through a major earthquake and one who hopes to survive... But the suspense is sort of hard... I'd love to sleep in my bed again...

Lots of folks are frightened and thinking about their life and considering if they are ready to die. Neighbors talk about being right with God...

One of these days there will be another kind of earthquake and the skies will split as well, revealing our Lord and King in the air. We have seen the warning signs. We know it is close. It could be today. Let's be ready!!!

Blessing to all of you, and do pray for all of us, that God's will be done.

Timo, from the shaking downtown
