I want to know how to proceed in troubleshooting why a curl request to a webserver doesn't work. I'm not looking for help that would be dependent upon my environment, I just want to know how to collect information about exactly what part of the communication is failing, port numbers, etc.

You likely will need to troubleshoot this from the server side, not the client side. I believe you are confusing an 'empty response' with 'no response'. They do not mean the same thing. Likely you are getting a reply that does not contain any data.

Note: This procedure assumes that you have installed the Apache Kafka distribution. If you are using a different Kafka distribution, you may need to adjust certain commands in the procedure.

The Kafka REST Proxy provides a RESTful interface to a Kafka cluster. It makes it easy to produce and consume messages, view the state of the cluster, and perform administrative actions without using the native Kafka protocol or clients.

The Confluent REST Proxy provides a "RESTful interface" on top of Kafka, allowing you to produce and consume messages using simple HTTP requests. In this lab, you will have the opportunity to interact with the REST proxy by consuming some existing messages. This will give you some hands-on experience with the requests necessary for consuming Kafka data using REST.

The test command above means that exit 1 will be run if curl returns non-zero exit code. Whereas, the health-check end-point will respond with a HTTP status code. Where does the translation of HTTP status code or semantics of UP or DOWN into shell exit codes happen?

If curl fails to make the request, it will return one of the error codes from the url you shared, but the exit 1 makes sure that instead of returning any non zero exit code directly, it exits with exit code 1. The is sh/bash syntax for logical OR, which will be evaluated, if the previous command did not return exist code 0.

Sometimes using a tracing system is intimidating because it seems like you need complex application instrumentationor a span ingestion pipeline in order to push spans. This guide aims to show an extremely basic technique forpushing spans with HTTP/JSON from a Bash script using the OpenTelemetry receiver.

Replace startTimeUnixNano and endTimeUnixNano with current values for the last 24 hours to allow you to search for them using a 24 hour relative time range. You can get this in seconds and milliseconds from the following link.Multiple the milliseconds value by 1,000,000 to turn it into nanoseconds. You can do this from a bash terminal with:

Mucking about with command line flags for configuration of Docker containers gets kind of gross after a short amount of time. Much better is to use Docker Compose.
Shut down the Docker containers from above first (docker rm -f broker; docker rm -f zookeeper) and then create docker-compose.yml locally using this example.

You can run docker-compose up -d and it will restart any containers for which the configuration has changed (i.e., broker). Note that if you just run docker-compose restart broker, it will restart the container using its existing configuration (and not pick up the ports addition).

Here is an example of a cURL request for accessing JMX metrics using Jolokia. Before executing the cURL request,:doc:download the CA certificate specific to your project. The CA certificate file is identical for all endpoints and services within the same project.Performing a cURL request to read a specific metric:

Apache Kafka supports message publishing through REST too. We can use Kafka REST proxy for this purpose. It supports http verbs including GET, POST and DELETE. Her is an example POST using curl which we will be trying to dissect throughout this post:

As command is executed the response is returned. Since we are using curl, it would simply be printed to console. The response has details including the offset (plus partition) and key / value schema IDs.

If raw events need to go through Splunk's index time extraction, use the HEC /raw event endpoint. When using the /raw HEC endpoint and when your raw data does not contain a timestamp or contains multiple timestamps or carriage returns, you must configure the splunk.hec.raw.line.breaker and setup a corresponding props.conf inside your Splunk platform to honor this line breaker setting. This will assist Splunk to do event breaking. For example, in Connection configuration, set "splunk.hec.raw.line.breaker":"####" for sourcetype "s1".

First, download the source folder here. Once you download the Kafka, un-tar it. Simply open a command-line interpreter such as Terminal or cmd, go to the directory where kafka_2.12-2.5.0.tgz is downloaded and run the following lines one by one without %.

If the ZooKeeper instance runs without any error, it is time to start the Kafka server. Simply open a new tab on your command-line interpreter and run the following command to start the Kafka server. bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties. Windows users should again use bin\windows\ directory to run the server.

After killing the broker some replicas will go offline, which you can see by calling the kafka_cluster_state?verbose=true API. At this point we can use the API like this to trigger the repairing process:

you need to set KafkaSSL* UDParameters before running copy from kafkasource with kafkaavroparser.. since kafkasource works fine with default parser, it looks like the issue is with your schema registry TLS certs. please try to run copy with non TLS schema registry to see if everything works fine when using kafkaavroparser.

Several examples in the document use the donuts.json file. To download this file, go to Drill test resources page, locate donuts.json in the list of files, and download it. When using cURL, use unicode \u0027 for the single quotation mark as shown in the Query example.

Valid storage plugin types include file, hbase, hive, mongo, and jdbc. Construct the request body using storage plugin attributes and definitions. The request body overwrites the existing configuration if there is any, and therefore, must include all required attributes and definitions.

Basic authentication support is controlled using drill-override.conf. Add the string "BASIC" to http.auth.mechanisms. Note that if the field is not currently set, it defaults to having "FORM" in it, so you probably want to include "FORM" if you set this field, so that Web UI users can still use the login form.

Form based authentication is enabled or disabled using drill-override.conf. Add the string "FORM" to http.auth.mechanisms if it is set. If http.auth.mechanisms is not set, "FORM" is enabled by default.

To authenticate requests using form-based authentication, you must use an HTTP client that saves cookies between requests. Simulate a form submission to the same URL used in the Web UI / Console (/j_security_check)

I am trying to run a Qlik replicate task using curl command. But I am getting error while obtaining SESSION ID. Can someone please post an example of obtaining session id and running a qlik replicate task using curl command.

The configuration steps depend greatly on the particular monitoring tools you choose, but JMX is a fast route to viewing Kafka performance metrics using the MBean names mentioned in Part 1 of this series.

You can monitor and manage the resources in your HAWQ cluster using the Ambari REST API. In addition to providing access to the metrics information in your cluster, the API supports viewing, creating, deleting, and updating cluster resources.

HAWQ provides several REST resources to support starting and stopping services, executing service checks, and viewing configuration information among other activities. HAWQ resources you can manage using the Ambari REST API include:

The first step in using the Ambari REST API is to authenticate with the Ambari server. The Ambari REST API supports HTTP basic authentication. With this authentication method, you provide a username and password that is internally encoded and sent in the HTTP header.

If you do not specify an artifact version when adding schema and API artifacts using the Core Registry API v2, Apicurio Registry generates a version automatically. The default version when creating a new artifact is 1.

Apicurio Registry also supports custom versioning where you can specify a version using the X-Registry-Version HTTP request header as a string. Specifying a custom version value overrides the default version normally assigned when creating or updating an artifact. You can then use this version value when executing REST API operations that require a version.

This section shows a simple curl-based example of using the Core Registry API v2 to add and retrieve a custom Apache Avro schema version in Apicurio Registry. You can specify custom versions to add or update artifacts, or to add artifact versions.

This section shows a simple curl-based example of using the Core Registry API v2 to export and import existing data in .zip format from one Apicurio Registry instance to another. All of the artifact data contained in the Apicurio Registry instance is exported in the .zip file.

Kafka Connect is a framework for connecting Kafka with external systems such as databases, storage systems, applications , search indexes, and file systems, using so-called Connectors, in a reliable and fault tolerant way.

The Kafka REST Proxy Handler allows Kafka messages to be streamed using an HTTPS protocol. The use case for this functionality is to stream Kafka messages from an Oracle GoldenGate On Premises installation to cloud or alternately from cloud to cloud.
