Hi Bill,
I am not a power user of Timeslice but have been using for years. I once had a query I thought was solved, but it isn't. On Mac.

I translate. I have maybe 100 jobs a year. I open one file and inside it, for each job, a record showing the client, the job and the various times I spent. I also colour current jobs red and change them to blue after I send the invoice and black when it's been paid.

When I create a new record within that file, having first created a new project, I have to scroll down a couple of hundred projects for the past years, which is irritating.

Someone once told me to delete the previous jobs, but I found then that they disappeared from the file so I couldn't go back and look at or print out the whole.

(One file per year would be OK)

Have I described the problem properly? Am I doing something wrong? I get a file with a whole list of projects, but when I add a new one I have a lot of scrolling to do.

TIA

Margaret

Hi Margaret,
It sounds as if Filters will work well for you.
Open the TimeSlice Help, and click on Filters for more info.

Thanks. I am ashamed of my ignorance.

So I create a new project, named 'Rubbish' as it's a test. Then I click on New and I get a huge alphabetic list of all clients I ever had - this is OK - and a huge list of projects. How can I apply filters to that list of projects of which I only need  the new one, 'Rubbish'? I can't see it.

I guess I’m not too sure if you are referring to a window containing time records, or the Control Panel that shows your Category, Client, Project, and Task list.  If it’s the former, than Filters will help.  If the latter, then click the Active button to hide, and just show Active in your list.

Not the former - I want to see all the records.
The latter - when I create a new record, I don't want to have to scroll through hundreds of prior projects to select it for the new record. I will research what the Active button is and how to make sure the project I have just created is active while all the potential clients are revealed too.

Thanks, now shutting down as it's 23.30 here.
