I'm wanting to import a TSV text list of time records into TimeSlice. My records are configured like this (although I can change the format if I choose):

Client    Start Date    Start Time    End Date    End Time    Elapsed

so e.g.:

Janitorial Central    2015-07-03    02:00    2015-07-03    02:10    11
Plumbing King    2015-07-01    02:00    2015-07-01    02:01    2
... etc.

There are a significant number of records each month that we have to manually add to TimeSlice... it would be wonderful if this type of import were possible.

Bill, is there some existing method that I'm missing?

Cheers!

Hi Cameron,

Not directly, however, you can indirectly using TimeSlice 3.  TimeSlice 3 imports tab-delimited text files.  Once you import a tab-delimited file, save the file and use TimeSliceExporter to export the TimeSlice 3 file as a TimeSlice 4 file which TimeSlice 4 can then import.  A bit of trouble, but if you have a lot of time records it may be worth a try.

If you don’t have TimeSlice 3 or TimeSliceExporter, let me know and I’ll send you a copy.

Ack, what a nightmare... I'm trying to smooth the process, not complicate it. This certainly sounds like a feature that would be useful to others who have external time trackers in place, and for basically anyone managing multiple staff/contractors.

[Importing exported .tsdata files brings its own problems, so even round tripping through TS3 would create more work than it solved.]
