I have recently moved up to the AppStore version of TimeSlice after using a previous version for years. Long ago, in the previous version, I had finagled a way to automatically show my hourly rate in the “Charge” column every time I clicked on “New” to begin a new time record. As a freelancer, I want my hourly charge to show up in the time record. I never used templates, “Assign” or “Copy” attributes, etc. To this date I’ve never figured out how to use any of those.

All I want to do is have my hourly charge appear in the “Charge” column when I hit “New” for a new time record. Does anyone know how to do this? I can’t find anywhere to enter an hourly rate in any of the prefs or Control Panel windows so that it appears in every new time record.

In lieu of having the hourly rate appear automatically in the "Charge" column, I have tried to enter it manually in a new Time Record, but the "Charge" column is not "editable."  I can’t click on the blank space under “Charge” in the time record, have it highlighted, in order to manually enter my hourly rate. Does anyone know why the “Charge” column is not editable? In the previous versions that column was always editable.

Thanks for any help,

William

William,

The Charge column is not editable because it is a calculated value.

Go to the TimeSlice Control Panel, click on the Jobs tab, and add a new Category or Task or Client or Project.  Make sure it has an hourly rate.  When you start a new time record, select the new category/task/client/project you created.

This is explained in more detail by selecting Quick Start under the TimeSlice Help menu.

Thank Bill — I was just trying to edit my post to the forum:

Instead of my hourly rate showing up in the “Charge” column I meant to say in the “Hr Rate” column — all the way through my post “Charge” should be read as “Hr Rate.”  My bad. I realize “Charge” can’t be edited, but in the past “Hr Rate” was always editable directly in the Time Record.

Finally got it — now when I click on “New” the values of a “Default Job” that I created appear in the record — specifically, the “Hr Rate” that I want to appear.

Thanks for the help, Bill.  (I’m still working on recovering my data lost from my previous TS version.)  :-)
