I don't know whether this will appealof you for the New Year Challenge (or a mini-challenge at least).
The Oxford Get Active Campaign has posted an idea to get people active in the NY and to get them to try something new.  Their suggestion is for people to go and have a taster class of some new activity (new to them or an abandoned one).  Anyone who completes 5 different taster sessions get  a gym pass of two for one tickets to the ice rink or whatever.
They also posted how many calories one session (or food euivalent) would burn up!!!

Not suggesting a total copy.  But I did think that we might have a list/spreadsheet with 5 (or whatever) activities...possibly new or abandoned ones...which we complete one session of.  The motivation being a 'treat' we promise ourselves.  It is not long term or repetitive and everyone could list their own personal 5 activities.

Is anyone interested, or prepared to modify the idea?

PS this pesky computer is deleting as I go along so I cannot correct the first line or any other typos.   The bit that is strange on line one is meant to be    'appeal to any of you'.

PPS I had not envisaged this as being taster sessions at organised classes necessarily.  It could be a timed walk or a jogging session (for the people who want to run but don't at the moment)., or a swimming session (for lapsed water babies) etc etc.  Mine will definitely involve some Nordic Walking, which I have abandoned lately and desperately need the spur to get me back into it.

That sounds like an excellent idea to kick start the New Year Glen, thank you! I shall have to give some thought to which activities I need to list, and what my treat will be!

Great idea Glen! Forward planning, eh?! Let's hope the spreadsheet fairy can work her magic...

Great.  I am already trying to work out what I will do.  I shall certainly need some motivation in the New Year.  I cannot do the spreadsheet unfortunately because I don't have a suitable programme on this borrowed computer.  But maybe someone will have an idea how to set it out?

Sounds good. We have recently got a fitness suite at school so maybe I should challenge myself to do sessions on some of the equipment.
