The sun was shining on my lovely wee acers today so I took some photos before the leaves drop. The red acers are stunning too but I could not get them with the sun lightening them up before I had to go out - maybe later?
The leaf colour in Perthshire is just so beautiful at the moment - I can just 'stand and stare'!

Jeannie, these are simply stunning!  A real source of joy!  Thank you for sharing them!

Jeannie how spectacular.  I was given an acer once, for my birthday, which cost a lot and despite my care it didn't even last 12 months.  I love them so much but am really worried that if I have another I would only kill it off.

Acers are very temperamental Fran and although I have more than a dozen, I, too, have lost many over the years. They are very susceptible to wind and really need to be in a sheltered spot. I have three that I removed from my parent's garden about twenty years ago when they downsized and they are still going strong. I just love the variety they give you, both in the way of foliage and of bark.
Today has been horrible here - pouring rain, strong winds and as dark as 'the Earl of Hell's waistcoat' as my dear dad used to say! I believe it is going to be even worse by Monday, so hibernation calls!

Jeannie, I love Acers but don't have any myself. They say it's a shrub worth waiting for. (They are so slow growing)
Yours are beautiful by the way.

Francis has made two lovely bird table/food hangers. Will take a pic at the weekend and post here to show you. We photographed the very expensive garden centre bird feeders and copied the. Slightly. (Much cheaper) they are rustic looking too.
On another note, the Mole is now in our garden. Nice little mounds appearing here and there!!

Jules, I haven't forgotten you Courtyard...

I look forward to seeing Francis's handiwork Carol - sounds lovely. I got some help to put our wooden garden furniture into the shed, but have left the white plastic stuff outside with a cover on - don't know how we managed to get everything stacked away before!
Heaps of leaves covering everything and, although I had the neighbour's gardener over, using his big industrial blower, today you would not have known he had even been!
