Need help with interactive timeline

I'm new with this and have little experience, but I would like some help with creating an interactive timeline to embed on a website.

I'll be creating points on a google map and the concept centers around the completion of housing projects. So when I scroll from left to right, it shows these points popping up, but instead of these points disappearing (due to the slider only showing certain points in a certain time period), I want these points to remain there indefinitely and I want more points to populate the map as I scroll to the right.

Also, how can I remove the slider interface and instead use a simple tool in which the user can drag their mouse from left to right easily? Like a simple horizontal scroll bar.
