azzido no problem, windows 11 always updates drivers if newer cones out if the software don't see the programer it's easy just removed the recent update driver by windows 11 and all will work perfect. The drivers I provide are from the pl2303 maker so the latest for Windows 11 and 10. Regards

For reference, I attache the 2 drivers that work for me to this message. Only one is needed, just that they have different install methods (one is .exe and the other is right click on the INF), if you run the .exe version and you already have another version of the driver it will ask you if you want to uninstall (which I usually do) and then run again the .exe to install the driver.

I have a device (R31D) that read RFID card with USB port(convert serial port to USB port). When I connected it to my computer, ( windows 8.1 - drivers update - X64 ) , It does not work .

When I checked it in device manager it shows small yellow alarm on Prolific USB-to-Serial port(COM3). and when I want to connect to my device with putty. show this error : unable to open connection to COM3. Unable to open serial port.

I have successfully downloaded programs to 8 systems using laptop (Lenovo 510) running windows10 and visilogix 9.8.65. I installed drivers once only. No problems after that. [ note: V130 cable is USB to serial port adapter + mj10-22-cs25 + modem cable to port 1 on V130.]

HOWEVER-Yesterday went to site with same laptop and same cables to download . No luck ! We ended up with errors on both the V130 and V1210. Both had unsuccessful downloads.

Yes, this is almost certainly a Windows 10 updating issue. Do these PLCs have Ethernet cards installed? If so, you might consider doing all the updating by Ethernet. I do this routinely and generally recommend an Ethernet card as part of the system integration.

However, I had problems with the USB to COM driver once due to interference from the computer's power supply.

It was powered from a different power than the machine to which it was connected.

Disconnecting the power supply from the mains and running on batteries solved the problem in this case.

On Joe's comment about the programming computers, I also have some systems that are complete standalone dedicated for a particular job. They are not connected to anything, hence have no security risks. But they are the only way I can get some older things to work properly, now that "modern" thinking has over-ridden perfectly good stuff.

I use a MacBook Air since day one. Installed parallels desktop and running windows 7 on the virtual machine. The windows 7 is set up with no internet connection. Runs without ANY glitches. Check my emails and web on the Mac side, do the plc stuff on the windows side. The battery lasts 7-8 hours, it is way more durable than most pc (hard aluminum shell) weights 2.2lbs. I use it in a very dusty environment. The best setup in my opinion.

Our estimating staff will take the time to answer your questions, review the proposal and help you with product selection. It is important to us that you are comfortable with the project before we begin the installation and you are completely satisfied when it is done.

Our line of Radiance Plus windows offer an elegant design with enhanced energy performance and customizable options all for an exceptional value. They are available in dual and triple pane glass options for maximum efficiency in any climate and come in 13 decorative exterior paint color finishes

At the moment you see the port (com3) within the device-manager, the drivers should work. (Some minutes after connecting the XGS via USB windowsupdate installs the drivers for me)

38400 is the speed i used too. After hitting the keyboard, I see something from the device.

The XG is running? You are able to ping to or through the XG?

In response to your questions:

The XG is running? You are able to ping to or through the XG?

The XG is running, its LEDs indicators are OK and we have some internal servers wich we access from the WAN through the Sophos that are currently available.

BUT... now the terminal is not regonizing the admin password (its the same I always use to log in as admin at the webadmin console). Do I have to use another password for at the console terminal? Any advice?

We just got two new XGS firewalls (delivered with 18.5.0 GA). I couldn't get a console connection on either. Upgraded to 18.5.2 and both connect fine. Also note, the actual port number may be different on your computer. Even on the same laptop, one of the XGs came up as COM3, the other XG came up as COM7.

DTECH USB to TTL serial UART converter cable provides a fast, simple way to connect devices with a 3.3V TTL level serial interface to USB port. It integrates PROLIFIC PL2303TA USB to serial UART interface IC device.

The PL2303TA chip used is housed within the USB A connector. The cable is terminated with a 4 pin 0.1 inch pitch header socket which provides access to the transmit (Tx), receive (Rx), VCC and GND connections.

The USB serial converter cable required USB driver, available from prolific website ( -usb-serial-uart-bridge-controller/), which are used to make the PL2303TA on the PCB board appear as virtual COM port (VCP driver). It allows users to communicate with the USB interface via a standard PC serial emulation port.

USB3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet network adapter, can also play with wirednetwork at will without internet access. It adopts RTL8135 chip, one-clickinstall no need CD-ROM driver, Win/8/10 no need driver, support hot plug, plugand play. It is compatible with card free devices such as LENOVO YOGO series,Mac book, surface pad, ultra-book, LED display etc. Equipped with RJ45 internetaccess, let your desktop PC /laptop access to internet easily.

- I recently had a query regarding the ELM327 in its USB version. That person did not get the computer to recognize the ELM327 device, his computer has a windows 10 64 bit installed. Fortunately I have at my disposal 3 computers with Windows 7 and 2 with Windows 10.I started testing on my usual computer and where I had already used these ELM327 devices without problems. To my surprise, out of 10 I tried none worked. In all cases, in the device manager, a yellow error signal appeared on the COM port where the device was connected.

- As always I hope that Windows give me some useful information about the problem. So went to check the error code and cause message. And as always I stay as I was before reading that information. It simply informs me that a non-existent device has been specified, indicating error code 10.

- Immediately tested the same devices on the other computer with Windows 10, with the same result. After testing every one on the computers with Windows 7 installed and checking that they all worked perfectly I came to the conclusion that it was due to a compatibility problem with the operating system. After searching for information on the internet about it and reading lots of tips indicating downloading the latest version (without result), disabling some specific devices in the device manager (without result) and the like, I came to the conclusion that I had to start from the beginning.

- The first thing would be to find out what chip for the USB communication had built-in these ELM327 USB. After dismounting one of them and see the inscription PL-2303HX on the serial communication chip, I went to the manufacturer's page where I found the following driver information for this chip. They indicate that it works for PL2303 HXA, XA, HXD, EA, RA, SA, TA and TB chips, with the important caveat that it does not work for Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 for the PL-2303HXA and PL-2303X versions that are EOL (End Of Life). What comes to say more or less they are no longer manufactured and have been left to give support in the latest driver versions.

- As the inscription of the chip is PL-2303HX now had to know if it is the HXA (without support) or the version HXD (new version that does have support). In the chip itself, after that inscription appears another one of the following style LFXXXXXA, where the X are numbers from 0 to 9. This code identifies the revision of the chip and the last letter, A in this case, indicates that it is the Chip PL-2303HXA. Just the one that has been left without support for windows 8, 8.1 and 10 in the latest versions of the driver.

- The possible solution was now to find an earlier driver that would support the PL-2303HXA. After much searching I found an old version for Windows Vista (version 3.2.0.0) and that, theoretically, could support the version of the chip of these devices. Also in both versions, 32bit and 64bit. You can download them below, in the download section.

- Keep in mind that the driver must be changed in all USB ports where the ELM327 device is connected, because when you connect a device to a USB port Windows will always choose the newest driver. Which in this case is a fatal error. So when we change USB port will have to repeat the change of the controller from step 5.

- Finally we have found more drivers from older versions, we put them in the download area, maybe someone need it, you never know. The ones mentioned in this article (versions of 32 and 64 bits) are: "PL2303 USB driver Win Vista 32bits" and "PL2303 USB driver Win Vista 64bits".
