The knobs have tactile steps while the main volume wheel is really nice and smooth. The headphone jack is at the front with 3 input selections of USB, optical, and RCA inputs, which is quite nice at this price point. From an audio perspective this thing is impressive, it has a lot of power to drive my HD 58X and beyond headphones with slightly lower sensitivity and high impedance, and being able to control the treble and bass is actually quite intuitive. Yes you can easily add bass and destroy the entire lower end, but because we have that fine adjustment you can just add a little bit or remove a little bit in either the high-end or the low-end of the spectrum. That basically gives you a really cool way to personalize your open headphones to sound a bit more bass-y and slightly sharper or remove some of that bass and treble from your closed headphones depending on what type of sound signature you prefer.

My dt 990 is among the best for under $200 and is still heavily reccomended and is also over 25 years old. Audio is one of the few things we have mastered a long time ago. The m50x is not good for gaming and music lacks sound stage and is too sharp.for most people. The DT 770 is less sharp and has actual soundstage and imaging.
The Shps and the 700xs are great for gaming they just lack bass. One of the unfortunate downsides of open back headphones is bass tends to kinda lack and if you want deep bass a closed back is often the way to go. The reason I say the 770s is due to their sound signature being v shaped having nice deep bass while also having one of the widest soundstage a for a closed back for under $500. I personally for gaming prefer open backs. That's why I use the dt990 great wide soundstage with awesome imaging. But suffers from the same thing the m50 does from a lesser extent is being btoo sharp on the highs. But unlike the m50s it's open back so it's not as shrill and has actual soundstage and separation so to me it's quite enjoyable. The Shp9500s to me are step below the 770 they are lacking in bass and lack detail and and cleanliness in the highs while some of the best headphones under a $100 and great for gaming.
