Prodinfo.exe is a program you can run which will extract information about the WinTV product you have installed such as model and serial number, MAC address, revision, and features which can be used to identify the exact model of your product. The driver for the device must be installed in order to run Prodinfo.exe

To be perfectly clear: My workstation is entirely capable of running Aero. If anything, the graphics accelerator and its drivers are massively overqualified for the task. I don't want to run Aero, because Microsoft made it impossible to create an unobtrusive Aero theme. So, when I need to launch Affinity Publisher, I switch to the least-obnoxious Aero settings, and when I am done using Publisher, I immediately switch back to what I've been using for over 10 years.

Lastly, from Windows 8, the DWM is always enabled, you cannot disable it. It enables a completely new GPU driver model (which is why you may get rendering issues when disabling DWM on Windows 7, as it will fall back to legacy GPU drivers).

And is not a small thing the fact that too many drivers and professional apps (too many useful apps with Win 10 as minimum req. already) are requiring Windows 10. Even newer machines (ie, AMD stuff) do require Windows 10 as an OS, only allowing windows 10 drivers. Hardware vendors of many devices are stopping providing Windows 7 drivers. And as mentioned, Windows 8 (and then of course, Win 10) indeed don't even have an option to deactivate it. This is not an alien thing in computers' world. Apple does similar things, just in a different way. And yet so, PC / Windows machines can last extreme periods of time without getting cut by obsolescence tricks. I have been almost 11 years with the same OS, since 2009.

I updates my drivers some time around late 2018/early 2019. Since then the computer actually works worse. Whenever I start a really old SU version now, Windows switches to a theme with no transparency in the title bars and the screen flashes. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying when you want to compare how a behavior has changed or test extension compatibility.

Have you perhaps used some other OpenGL application before opening SketchUp? To me it sounds like the driver is crashing.
I am with @SketchUp3D_de and recommend updating the driver. It only takes a moment.

Okay so don't ask me why the heck I did it because it was working just fine, but I uninstalled my Elite Atlas Aero audio drivers and now I can't get the hecking things to actually REINSTALL. I keep hitting a driver install loop in the Control Studio where I

Install the drivers

It says the control studio needs to restart

I hit "OK" on the dialogue and the app restarts

It tells me I need to reinstall the drivers because the installation was incomplete

I've completely uninstalled everything related to TB in an effort to fix it with clean installs of the drivers, it doesn't work.

I tried restarting my computer completely after installing the drivers, it doesn't work.

I've had the headset plugged in with the transmitter also plugged in while installing the drivers, it doesn't work.

I've tried exiting out of the control studio using the tray icon (not restarting with the dialogue box) and starting it up manually, it doesn't work

I am at my wit's end on trying to get these damn drivers to actually install. But I think the problem is on Turtle Beach's end, because I've entered the device manager and the audio component it's trying to install, even AFTER installing it, has a blue puzzle piece and when I enter the properties it says that no driver is installed. So I'm pretty sure that TB borked the driver package in their latest version of the Control Studio. Someone please help me >

Just did that. Uninstalled the audio driver, restarted, opened up control studio, plugged in the transmitter, turned on the headset and waited for it to pair, then did the driver installation. Installation finished, prompted me to restart control studio, restarted via the dialogue and it's telling me to install the drivers again.

Go into device manager, and the waves audio component still has the blue puzzle piece telling me that no drivers are installed for it. I try to update the driver through the device manager and it says that it's already the latest version.

Used revo to uninstall the audio driver, and before I restarted I deleted the audio driver folder from ProgramData. Not comfortable with editing the registry so I left the Turtle Beach Audio Driver entry. Bleachbit installed but it's not opening. I click the app, UAC pops up, I tell it OK, the program goes into memory (I can see it running in task manager) but it doesn't actually open.

Driver downloaded, hit yes when UAC popped up. Installing now.

Installed. Control Studio is now prompting a restart of the program.

Clicked OK, it's restarting, annnnd... it's telling me to install the driver again.

thought to restart instead of telling it to try installing the driver again. Gonna see if that finally got it to actually install this time... Only other thing I can think of to do if this doesn't work is to do a completely fresh reinstall of Windows off of a CD I still have lying around. One that I made using the media creation tool.

Opening control studio now. Yep, still saying I need to install the driver. Even though I literally just installed it...

I tried to use the Windows 7 version of Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver (which has blue and white control panel window color) on Windows Vista Extended Kernel with NTOSKRNL Emu_Extender and some modifications. I have successfully installed it through Device Manager driver update. And it turns out that it has worked partially. OpenGL and DX11 work perfectly without glitches, also the driver has no problem at all in Device Manager, but DX9 causes BEX64 related crashes. And until now I still cannot enjoy the Aero theme and play videos using Windows Media Player (because they need DX9 to work properly). The control panel itself also won't open (BEX64 crashing) unless if I renamed or moved out the igdumdim64.dll file from System32 folder and igdumdim32.dll file from SysWOW64 folder.

Getting later Intel graphics for the Intel HD 4000 working properly may be very tricky. If one gets it to work, that means any Intel graphics from Haswell and up will also work with Vista (Haswell graphics do work with Vista if you use the XP version, but you get no Aero interface. Kaby Lake and later may also work by simply grabbing the mods for them and installing away, but don't quote me on this), although you will still have the Haswell+ bugs, which won't resolve by simply installing the graphics driver (otherwise the person that got the XP Haswell driver to work under Vista would have seen all problems disappear).

Now I have found myself that the exact culprit of the newer version of Intel HD 4000 driver aero problem is the d3d9.dll file located in System32 and SysWOW64 folder. It would be worked perfectly if using the backported Windows 7's d3d9.dll for Windows Vista, but it also has so many missing functions. Hope @win32 know this immediately.

If you want the full Windows 7 experience the Aero glass interface is a must. Without the slick glass interface a number of key features will be disabled such as taskbar thumbnails and Aero Peek. According to Microsoft the bare minimum requirements for Aero is a graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0 or newer and a native WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) driver. In most cases when you install Windows 7 Aero will be enabled but on some configurations various issues prevent the feature from starting.

The most common issue I have seen is a lack of compatible WDDM drivers. When Windows 7 was installed compatible drivers were not found on the installation media. In this scenario Windows will search on Windows Update for compatible drivers once an internet connection is established. To make Windows search for new drivers manually just click on the Start Button and type in Windows Update. Then, click Check for updates.

After you have, or your system has automatically updated your video adpater drivers to compatible WDDM drivers it is best to refresh the Windows Experience Index. This will run the Windows Experience performance tool to benchmark your computer and identify what features should be turned on and off. Click on the Start Button and type in check the windows experience index and hit Enter. Next, click Refresh Now.

This was my experience from my test of original 6.0 release from December 2018. As I tested the 6.0.2 release, the new device was also detected and the driver was also installed. But this was probably once again not the newest one, so after the reboot I had the BSOD on the boot, more then once. Therefore, I have to repeat the additions installation and this way probably renew the Aero WDDM driver as well. After that the BSOD was gone, but I got the same situation with Aero and Java program as I already had before.

Some news: just tested with a fresh 6.0.3 revision 128367, and the WDDM driver works just fine. I have Aero and the TV Browser has no artifacts. So this version is clearly useful with SVGA, Aero and TV Browser. There is just one thing: the WDDM drivers, which now also active in the VGA mode, are from January 17th and not 24th. So in spite of the fact that I updated the additions, looks like the driver is still from the previous beta and not the current one.
