Because of small sample size, a morphometric and statistical analysis of the inner ear structures is not possible. We therefore restrict the current study to a qualitative comparison of wildtype animals and spider morphs.

We find distinct morphological differences when comparing healthy wildtype snakes and spider morph snakes. In spider morphs, the cross-sectional diameter of the semicircular canals appears wider and the ampullae and the crus communis are inflated. The shape of the semicircular canals varies (intra- and interindividual) in the points of fusion and the diameter of the circle formed by each of the canals. Besides the structural differences, the inter- and intraindividual variability appears higher in spider morph snakes than in wildtype snakes.

There is general awareness of artificial selection and its potential implications on the health and welfare of animals. Despite growing popularity and increasing numbers of reptile breeds of atypical colour and pattern variants, only a few studies have investigated the appearance and causes of diseases associated with colour morphs. Ball pythons (Python regius) are among the most frequently bred reptiles and breeders have selected for a multitude of different colour and pattern morphs. Among those colour variants, the spider morph of the ball python is frequently associated with wobble syndrome. The aim of this study was to determine whether a morphological variant can be found and associated with the clinical occurrence of wobble syndrome in spider ball pythons, using computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging as in-vivo diagnostic methods. Data from five spider and three wild type ball pythons was assessed and evaluated comparatively. We were able to identify distinctive structural differences in inner ear morphology in spider ball pythons, which were highly likely related to wobble syndrome. To our knowledge, this is the first report of these anomalies and provides a basis for further anatomical and genetic studies and discussion of the implications for animal welfare in reptile breeding.

You want to use python code in Fiji (jython scripting) or Fiji functions in a python script (Fiji in python alias PyImageJ) or you want to use spyder with Fiji (not really possible)?
I agree that the Fiji IDE is not as powerful as spyder yet there is syntax coloring as soon as you select language>python and auto-completion might come up in the future too.
Also if you update Fiji to have the last editor, you can tick the persistent box to type some interactive commands with the value of your variable in memory.
The first spider ball python was imported from Africa by someone who worked at a pet store in Los Angeles. He pulled it out of a shipment and lived with him for 2 years. His wife and him wanted to go on a honeymoon and thats when Lindy Johnson from Freedom Breeder bought the spider ball python for $7500. He then sold the animal to Kevin From New England Reptile Distributors. Kevin reproduced the Spider in 1999, which finally founded the morph into the reptile hobby.
While it is perfectly legal to breed the spider ball python, organizations like the IHS in Europe have banned the sale of any Ball Python carrying the Spider gene at their events. [3]
This worked fine on my Windows machine, but now crashes python anytime I try to run the code that has this call in it. I have tried creating different environments with different versions of Python (specifically Python 3.9.18 and 3.10.13, which are the only lower versions than 3.11.4 available on Anaconda Navigator), and they all behave the same.

An attractive ball python morph that is appealing in its own right, this mutation is also frequently used in combination projects. But there are some potential problems with this mutation, which prospective owners should consider before making a purchase.
In contrast to normal ball pythons, who have large brown to golden blotches separated by thick black or dark brown markings, spider ball pythons have much larger brown or golden pattern elements, while the black markings between them are very thin.
Spider ball pythons also tend to have unmarked ventral surfaces. Most spider ball pythons also have white and bright yellow markings on the lower portions of their sides. They also exhibit atypical head markings, which have more complexity and light pattern elements than typical ball pythons do.
Note that, as with most snakes exhibiting pattern mutations, spider ball pythons vary pretty significantly. Some look pretty similar to normal ball pythons, while others are very different and immediately recognizable.
Assuming the trait is dominant, half of a spider-normal clutch will be spiders, unless the spider has two copies of the gene. In such cases, all of the young in a spider-normal clutch would appear as spiders.
It is important to note that some other keepers and breeders continue to work with this mutation. They feel that because most spider ball pythons can still live long lives, there is no reason to shun these snakes or the breeders who work with them.
In most ways, caring for a spider ball python is no different than caring for a normal ball python. They have similar space, humidity and temperature requirements, and they should be fed similar diets.
The only other major difference between caring for a normal ball python and one exhibiting the spider gene relates to handling. Because these snakes lack the coordination of normal ball pythons, and they occasionally move in unpredictable ways, it is imperative that you exercise care when holding one of these pythons.
This indicates, for example, that the gcc/8.3.0 module is required in order to load python/3.7.6. Alternatively, if you want to use the gcc/9.2.0 compiler, then you need to load this module first in order to load python/3.7.6.
