Richie Rich first entered music in the late 1980s with the group 415. With D-Loc, DJ Daryl, and JED, Rich crafted a Bay Area album in 1989 called 41Fivin, which sold well around the Bay Area and spawned a Richie Rich solo album in 1990, titled Don't Do It.[2]

As the group was ready to sign a major-label contract with Priority Records in 1990, however, Richie Rich was arrested for possession of cocaine. 415 released its next album and faded from the scene soon after, while Rich sat in jail; he was released a year later, and began appearing on tracks by 2Pac and the Luniz. Richie Rich soon found himself being in the middle of a bidding war between Def Jam Records and Relativity Records. He choose to go on Russell Simmons' label Def Jam. Before forming his own label, Oakland Hills 41510, he released his second solo album in 1996, Half Thang, which peaked on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at number 57.[6]

By 1995, Richie Rich had become the first Bay Area rapper to sign with New York's Def Jam Records, and his major-label album, Seasoned Veteran, was released in late 1996[7] Seasoned Veteran did rather well on the charts, and music videos were soon released for three songs on the album.[8] Just as Rich's career was booming, a merger at Def Jam (with PolyGram) left him without much direction. Richie Rich was going to release a second album on Def Jam, although it kept getting pushed back. He soon had the decision to stay or go, he decided to go.[9]

Rich then started his own label with partner Lev Berlak, named Ten-Six Records. Four years after Seasoned Veteran, his fourth album The Game was released. The album has sold over 300,000 units independently but was panned by critics and fans alike.[10]

Rich is an album-length collaboration with New York producer Mono En Stereo, known for his work with Prodigy, De La Soul, and Action Bronson. His beats fit Sandman like a glove. The production is summery, largely mid-tempo, and sample-based, lending a timeless quality to the songs. This languid pace works well for Sandman, who these days seems more focused on weaving yarns than dazzling with technique. His bars are elegant in their simplicity and his writing is diaristic and relatable; observations about the mundane are punctuated by occasional musings on the profound. He comes across like an everyman sage, someone searching for enlightenment in the big questions as well as the smallest of actions.

The album features bassists Jon Burr and Tom Warrington, alongside the young piano prodigy Barry Kiener, with Rich showcasing his mesmerizing brush technique through stunning solos. Trios also serves as a tribute to Kiener, who tragically passed away from a heroin overdose at the age of 30 while touring with the band in 1986. As one of the few recordings featuring Kiener, the album provides a glimpse into his prodigious talent, highlighting the special bond he shared with Buddy Rich beyond their musical connection.

Microbial phylotype richness was estimated by Chao and Ace, and the diversity of the bacterial community was revealed by Shannon [17]. As shown in Table 1, there was a significant overall decrease in the richness and the diversity of gut microbiota in the mice fed by HFD (p < 0.05). The NC group had the highest microbial phylotype richness and diversity in all groups, whereas the CAext groups had the lowest richness and diversity in all groups.

Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) plots based on the OTU abundance of gut microbiota of each mouse. The closer the spatial distribution between spots, the greater the bacterial similarity among different groups. NC, normal control, mice were fed with a normal chow and intragastrically administered 20 mL/kg saline; MC, model control, mice were fed with a high-fat feed and intragastrically administered 20 mL/kg saline; CAext-L, CAext-M, CAext-H mice were fed with a high-fat feed and intragastrically administered 10 mg/(kgd), 15 mg/(kgd), and 20 mg/(kgd) Canarium album extract (CAext), respectively.

Few artists have cut a creative swath over the last thirty years as consistently and with as much innovation as Robert Rich. Each one of his 60 or so studio albums is a meticulously crafted, creatively conceived work that reveal the fingerprints of an obsessive mind and deep soul. Whether playing analog synthesizers, blowing into PVC flutes, or stroking the strings of a lap steel guitar through waves of processing, Robert Rich approaches each work with a conceptual grounding and an understanding of the sensuality of sound. Robert Rich was voted #9 of 30 Icons of Echoes.

Leaf senescence and abscission have been studied in the semi-parasitic plant mistletoe (Viscum album). Leaf senescence and abscission occur in the summer, when the metabolic activity of the host has reached its maximum. In contrast with their hosts, mistletoes selectively degrade only one major leaf protein during leaf senescence, the sulfur-rich viscotoxin, whereas most of the remaining leaf proteins are lost during abscission. The changes in viscotoxin content are paralleled by changes in the concentration of the corresponding mRNA. Shortly before the onset of leaf senescence, the mRNA for viscotoxin has disappeared from the leaves. The anticyclic timing of leaf senescence and the degradation of only one major leaf protein seems to reflect an adaptation of the parasite to its habitat.

In a recent interview with BET's Diggin In the Crates, Fat Joe admitted that he believes 50 Cent's debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time. Joe admitted that due to their past beef, at first he wasn't receptive to really listening to the landmark album when it first dropped in 2003.

It's somewhat unusual for a country artist to score their biggest success with their debut album, but Big & Rich managed that feat when their first album, Horse of a Different Color, was certified platinum on Aug. 18, 2004, after selling a million copies.

"Big Kenny" Alphin and John Rich had both already knocked around Nashville's music scene before meeting and teaming up to form a new duo. Rich had even seen some success as the bassist in Lonestar. He co-wrote a number of cuts from the band's first two albums and sang lead on the Top 20 hit "Heartbroke Every Day" before parting with the group, but he found a much more appropriate combination of musical influences and personalities when he and Big Kenny got together for a duo that was like no other act in country music history.

Rich and Kenny co-wrote all of the tracks on Horse of a Different Color, and the project includes guest appearances from Gretchen Wilson, Cowboy Troy and Martina McBride. Released on May 4, 2004, Horse of a Different Color was a groundbreaking blend of country, rock and even rap elements that had an immediate impact in the marketplace. The album's lead single, "Wild West Show," reached No. 21, but it was really the second single, "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)," that launched Big & Rich as up-and-coming stars, reaching No. 11 and earning platinum certification. The flamboyant video that accompanied the single introduced fans to the duo's unique visual qualities, further cementing their newfound status as hitmakers.

They scored additional hits with "Holy Water" (No. 15) and "Big Time" (No. 20), and Horse of a Different Color was awarded double platinum certification on Jan. 11, 2005. It would go on to eventually sell more than three million copies overall. It remains the biggest-selling album of Big & Rich's career to this day, but the duo have gone on to enjoy a long string of other hits that includes "8th of November," "Lost in This Moment," "Look at You," "Lovin' Lately" and more.
