saving a pattern of tiles

hi everybody 

I am using tiled art with my elementary student and i want to laser cut their art. i can save one tile via save inkscape tile. but the export svg image --> tessellation - whole tiles gives out an svg that i cannot open in a vector app (inkscape or illustrator ) and use for laser cutting.

any ideas as to what i am doing wrong?

Hello Eran,

When I do 

export svg image --> tessellation - whole tiles

I can open the result in Inkscape. Can you please send your file that doesn't work?

Ok, my bad

After opening in inkscape I wasn't able to change the fill color or stroke so I thought it wasn't a vector file. I tried again now and  I was able to import it to my laser cutter just fine so I guess it was a vector afterall.
