Tomorrow beginning at 5:00 PM, more than 300 people will gather at the Downtown Sheraton hotel (201 N 17th St. Philadelphia PA 19103) in response to Pope Francis' call to lift up our nation's most vulnerable. With our procession to Independence Hall beginning at 5:20 PM, dozens of clergy from across the nation will lead hundreds of immigrants, low-wage workers, and families affected by mass incarceration in a prayerful procession including stops at various sites that represent players in our nation’s “economy of exclusion,” including a fast food restaurant, Philadelphia’s federal detention center, and the Slave Memorial on Independence Mall.
Speakers include Reverend Greg Holston of New Vision United Methodist Church, Father Jesus Neito-Ruis of Our Lady of Rosary Church, and Tanti Marinez, the mother of a son who died due to the medical neglect of Corizon, a private jail company, in Alameda Country, California.
Join POWER and dozens of faith communities from across the nation tomorrow evening in gathering to respond to Pope Francis' challenge of practicing the commandment of love through radical faith.
Please note a slight time change: The "Faith Matters March for Justice" event will begin at 5:00 PM, the procession from Downtown Sheraton to Independence Hall will begin at 5:20 PM.
