A reminder that New Sanctuary Movement will hold our first-ever white citizen privilege training this Sunday, April 19 from 1:30 - 5:30 at Tabernacle United Church at 3700 Chestnut St! 

This is a great opportunity to think more deeply - and in community - about our role as white citizens in the movement for immigrant justice. The workshop will be led by Training for Change, and please bring a notebook and pen.

As a reminder, this is a training specifically for white citizen members of New Sanctuary Movement will are engaged in our on-going organizing work. This is a first step in our 2015 organizing program, which includes Leadership School for both immigrants and allies for the first time, and a mixed privilege training later on in the year. We have identified the need for us as white citizens to hold each other accountable to patterns of racism and paternalism we see in our communities, congregations, and selves. We believe that people with privilege have to do the hard work of engaging together on these issues, rather than relying on immigrants and other people of color to do this work. We'll discuss all this and more at the training, but feel free to get in touch to talk about it prior.
