Dear POWER Leaders and Supporters,
Due to the blizzard, tonight's Leadership Assembly has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 19th from 7-9PM at Living Water UCC (6250 Loretto Ave, Philadelphia, PA, 19111). Click here to RSVP if you have not already.
In the coming weeks, many of you will be hearing from fellow leaders and staff personally so we can get alligned in our important fight for a fully funded, racially just education system.
In his budget address this week, Governor Wolf emphasized the importance of a new funding formula for schools. Our work has helped make a funding formula a #1 priority of his administration - and we should be very proud of that. But there is still urgent need to press for full school funding that doesn't come disproportionately off the backs of poor families, and to ensure the Legislature passes a formula that undoes shameful racial inequities.
Training dates for the campaign will take place the week of March 16th and March 23rd. We will send dates and locations as soon as they are confirmed.
In addition to launching our education campaign, at the Leadership Assembly we'll also discuss and vote on proposals related to other areas of our work for economic dignity and racial justice.
We have made these proposals available on our website for your review in advance (click here to download).
If you have questions or would like to discuss the proposals in advance of the assembly, you can reach out to:
Thanks for you all do in our journey together for a City of Opportunity that Works for All. Stay safe today - and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
POWER Staff
