This issue still persists and is a bug of the latest WhatsApp update. So I thought of using the pervious version of the app and notifications in it just work fine. -desktop.en.uptodown.com/mac/download/4588528 You can download the previous version from this link.
I have the exact same problem. I've been using Whatsapp on mac for the past 3 years, everything worked fine but after the update whatsapp notifications seemed to have disappear from system preferences.
Me too! I un-install and re-install back the Whatsapp app and I still don't receive any pop up notification message. But only when Whatsapp calls it does give pop up notification! I think it's a bug. My system preferences under notifications, Whatsapp app is not appearing there too!
If you are getting notification on your Mac from all other sources, except Whatsapp, it's not an Apple issue. It is a Whatsapp issue. Apple doesn't own Whatsapp. Meta (Facebook) owns Whatsapp and they need to fix whatever their issue is.
Hey Guys I found a simple solution to this issue, go to your user directory and toggle all hidden files using the command ( CMD + shift + . ) and automatically Whatsapp notification will start working back on.
As per my understanding, this has started since the new MacOS update. Now its either that the app is not able to get the access to the notification panel or there is some bug in the new OS update. I hope they fix it soon tho. hampering the workflow a lot.
Wow, that's BS on WhatsApp's part. Like others here, I have the same issue -- both on my Intel-based iMac and my M1 MacBook Air. WhatsApp notification was working fine before this latest version. This is totally a bug on WhatsApp.
I also used to get banner notifications, but rcently was not getting the same, I thought to reinstall it....deleted the previous app and same thing happened, it got deleted from system preferences also...
I have same issue here. After last update I've lost all kind of WhatsApp notifications in my MacBook. After reading some reply's I believe we must wait for a new release but meantime, we can all go back to WhatsApp web (which is not useful if you need to make any call, but we'll still get the notifications back)
Thanks Phil0124. Sadly my iMac is Late 2013 - the most recent not to be able to upgrade to Big Sur. the update was offered from the App Store and that is why I feel particularly aggrieved with Apple. After the selecting update the app partially loaded across the 'load bar' then stopped three quarters of the way greyed out & then vanished from the screen. I forced quit and even re-booted without any success and finally uninstalled.
Thank you for trying to help but it seems I shall have to make do with trying to use WhatsApp on my iPhone 12 rather than the 21.5" screen - not easy when you are 77. I still feel badly let down by Apple. I could get the web version to load but not to to install and to try to load it every time is a non-starter.
It's quite frustrating. Uptodown.com, a French site, offers all the previous releases of Whatsapp, so in theory you can download the old version that corresponds to your OS. BUT, as soon as the program installs, it immediately proceeds to download an "update", and knocks itself out of business. There should be a way to keep it from updating, but AFAIK there isn't.
Apple would not warn you about updates provided by 3rd party developers, they have no way of knowing if the update provided for a 3rd party app is compatible with you system or not. Though in general it should not have been able offer an update from the App Store that does not work on your operating system as that is specifically defined for the update and the App store would not offer it then.
The other option, is the update is compatible with your computer, but its just glitched out or something else happened. You mentioned "it ceased to function". But did not explain what that means exactly. What happened when it updated, and whether or not you have tried to force close the app, and attempted to open it again.
Thanks very much for this tip web whatsapp got running now ! Same bull got update and foolishly deleted the original so stuck til I got your breakthrough. I know there is a way to force my 2011 mac to take later versions of iOS but can't be bothered. Cheers and have a good one
Hallo Leute! I used the simple method: I no longer buy from Apple because I suffered from it in the past. THEY PURPOSE TO CHANGE THEM. This is robbery! I will not recommend this company to anyone in the future!
there is no way whatsapp web works well with Orion, i simply cannot connect and send a message, after about 10 seconds my messages do not send, and if i reload the page it shows an error. I think the moment WhatsApp starts syncing, the page crashes.
Using chrome agent on whatsappweb qrcode page, than after log in, switching to safari user agente seems to fix this issue. I cant use whatsapp web with chrome user agente because it gives me to many typing bugs.
The new native Mac app is optimized for large displays and desktop-class experiences like dragging and dropping files into chats and viewing more messages in chat histories. It also touts better performance and supports WhatsApp group calls from macOS for the first time, supporting up to eight people on video calls and up to 32 people on audio calls. Users can join a group call after it has started, see their call history, and choose to receive incoming call notifications even when the app is closed.
The new WhatsApp experience debuted on Windows earlier this year. Following a lengthy beta testing period, the native Mac app is now available to download from whatsapp.com and will soon be released on the Mac App Store.
