Most applications do not display real password in the login box for security reasons and instead they show the asterisks (****). But often there is need to know the actual password especially if you have forgotten password that you have entered while ago. In such cases, AsteriskPasswordSpy will help you to easily find out the real password hidden behind asterisks.

Here are the brief usage details

  • Launch Asterisk Password Spy on your system
  • Now simply drag the 'search icon' to any password box to reveal the passwords.
  • When you place it over the password box, it will automatically highlight it and password is added to list as shown in the screenshot below.
  • Finally you can save all recovered password list to HTML file by clicking on 'Export' button and then select the type of file from the drop down box of 'Save File Dialog'.

Asterisk Password Recovery is a powerful and convenient password recovery tool, helps you reveal the hidden passwords on password dialog boxes and web pages, that are covered by the asterisks (******). It works with all Windows system.

I lost my pppoe password, so I want to recover it from my router configuration setting but I am not succeeding after my lot of research on Internet. I used many password revealer tools but it can't help me actually they reveal's my password but after revealing another asterisk password appears

In inspect element mode of the browser and while you are on the password field change input type = password to input type = text :), man who would've thought hacking WiFi would be that easy through the browser.

I can't provide you with precise instructions because you haven't specified you router's model, but what you want to do is to download a backup of your settings. Then you'll have to search for a tool or website that will allow you to decode backup file. The password should be readable in the output.

I Know how to reveal that password in GPON ont, i was recently looking for PPPoE password too, i'm trying to change html code in inspect element, not working. I'm trying to access telnet on router, not working too, then i found 1 app for Windows, here it's called RouterPassView.

Trial period is endless. Trial version shows 2 symbols from the recovered password only.

With the "Home User" License, you can use the program for non-commercial purposes in non-business, non-commercial environment. To use the program in a corporate, government or business environment, you should purchase the "Business User" License.

Home User license is only 29.95 and Business User license is 44.95.

After payment processing is completed, you will immediately receive the email with your registration key. The key should be entered into the evaluation version, which can be downloaded from this page.

What's the best way to handle these situations for screen reader users? It seems wonky for it to say"Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, Black dot, One thousand thirty-four."

Most screen readers will actually say 'star' or 'bullet' for each character. This also happens when entering a password if asterisks are displayed: the reader says 'star' after each character that is typed. So this is normal behaviour.

The difference between using an asterisk and a bullet is that the bullet will always be read (it is therefore considered a safe symbol for screen readers), whereas the asterisk will only be read in some cases, by some of the readers.

We are doing food ordering system and my task is to make sign up and sign in page. My question is, I want the inputed password by the user which is a word to be an asterisk when it is inserted into the database table, like, my password is foodrder and it will be converted to ******** into the database column for password. Also, after the first one is solved, is how to login using the password as word not asterisk by comparing the username and password as a word in the database table, since the password in the database is written as asterisk(AFTER THE FIRST PROBLEM IS SOLVED). Oh last one, how to validate a gmail? If the gmail exists or not?

So, either you adopt some software to encrypt the password, or you do not. But, that "encrypted" password ALSO will not show as "*****" in the database, but will be stored as plane text - just not meaning much of anything.

So, for now, you can continue to write and setup this learning system - and you can store the passwords in plain text. You don't mention if you are supposed to use a particular encryption routine provided for you, or are you to setup one of your choosing? Given this is such a huge topic - encryption and security - that would be a 2 or 3 year course ALONE ON THIS ONE subject?

In fact, either the teacher says for this assignment that plane text storage of passwords is ok, or it is not. (it is this issue being left out that I have a huge problem with - it not possible nor practical that the teacher left this issue out - it is just not.

So "how" to do this is a simple query of the database as per above. The only issue is are you to use some kind of encryption for the password part. But during a logon, the user DOES type in their password as plain text - we simple set the text box mode to "password" and that will display "****" for the people looking at the web page, but behind, it is raw plane text as the actual user password typed in.

Asterisks Password Viewer allows you to see the actual password behind the asterisks. OS Windows stores your frequently used passwords, such as the passwords in Microsoft Outlook email or for an FTP account. But since you no longer enter the saved passwords manually, you often tend to forget them. The password is staring right at you, but it's hiding...

Thanks...I guessed so. However, there are a multitude of asterisk readers for pc's, especially Windows O/S. if, or when, get my pc up and running, I'll be able to get this info as I've got my emails set up via windows live mail as well. All I'll have to do is download one of these readers and get the passwords that way! So it is pointless Apple apps don't support this as well.

These programs are those which can unhide passwords typed into Windows dialog boxes such as web pages and FTP programs.Effectiveness of this type of software does vary, so finding something that works for you and your version of Windows will vary.

Let's set the record straight from the beginning: Asterisks Password Viewer is not a program designed to help you steal passwords. Its purpose is to help you recover the ones that you have previously saved and that you can not remember. In order to protect you from people who are looking over your shoulder, most programs will hide the characters you type in the password box behind some black circles or dots, which are called asterisks. This application will help you "lift the curtain" and see actual characters.

You should use the below extensions only if you understand the security risks and you need the passwords revealed often enough to make it worth the risk. Otherwise, stick to the above two methods.

Most of the password revealing extensions do not work with Firefox Quantum, but this one does. The extension adds a link right next to passwords field that you can click to reveal or hide the password.
