The new Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts trailer provided a fascinating new look at a new age of transformers in what follows Bumblebee with the new soft rebooting of the franchise. Though characters like Optimus Prime are returning, there are more previously unseen characters on the way.

A mixture of never-before-seen Autobots, transformers based on animals, and more, the new robotic characters shown off in the trailer make sure that fans will be filled with excitement for a fresh set of characters on a level not seen since the first Transformers movie came out over fifteen years ago.

It is difficult to believe they actually named a character Optimus Primal and are bringing him to the screen alongside Optimus Prime. This transformer, who comes in the shape of a large gorilla, is the leader of the Maximals and will be a major character helping the Autobots in this movie as the war between the Maximals and the Terrorcons rages on. With Peter Dinklage voicing Primal, the character is in good hands in the franchise.

Airazor appears again but briefly in the new Rise of the Beasts trailer, and while not much is known about how the character will be presented on this occasion, it is likely that she will take on the personality of a seasoned veteran, much like Yeoh herself.

The youngest and brash member of the Maximals, Cheetor is a lightning-quick transformer who travels in the form of a cheetah. It is unsurprising that he appears alongside Bumblebee in the trailer, as the fan-favorite is the youngest of the Autobot characters in most continuities.

Rise of the Beasts is finally breaking a trend with the Transformers movies that don't really feature much by way of female transformers. Arcee is one of the most notable female Autobots, often depicted as a two-wheeler and shown in more Transformers media than any other female Transformer, Arcee is finally getting more of a spotlight in this new movie.

Pete Davidson is bringing another of the Autobots to the screen in the form of Mirage. Seen alongside the leading human character in Rise of the Beasts in the latest trailer, played by Anthony Ramos, Mirage could be one of the most focused-on transformers this time around.

Not a villainous Terrorcon like many of the enemies that will be facing the Autobots and Maximals in Rise of the Beasts, Scourge is presented as the mastermind behind the new conflict, a former Decepticon voiced by Peter Dinklage, Scourge is a violent and evil transformer.

Shown in the new trailer attacking and skewering Bumblebee, Scourge is likely going to provide a heavy threat to Autobots and Maximals alike as he begins working on some new scheme alongside the Terrorcons.

One of the easiest characters to miss in the most recent trailer, Battletrap is one of the villainous Terrorcons with the form of a large orange-and-black tow truck. While he appeared only in this form and only for a single shot in the newest trailer, it was unmistakably Battletrap.

Confirmed for the film itself separately from his appearance in the trailer, Battletrap will be voiced in the new movie by David Sobolov, who has worked on various Transformers projects in the past as a voice actor. With new projects like the Transformers: Reactivate game being announced for the franchise, it's possible that Sobolov will be having a busy few years as a fan-favorite voice actor.

Another terrorcon, who is again seen but briefly in the most recent trailer, Nightbird is a black and purple blur seen at one point who has been treated in a variety of roles and styles through different Transformers projects, notably as a ninja warrior or as an entire army of drones.

Nightbird could be anything in Rise of the Beasts, but whatever the filmmakers try to use this character for, it is certain to be a significant adversary for the Autobots and Maximals. The terrorcons are likely to be expanded upon in future trailers, but for now, they remain fairly shrouded in mystery, as does the plan of their leader Scourge. With all of these characters showing up already in the trailer, Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts is becoming one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

Based on the G1 design, the trailer measures an impressive three feet (1 meter) in length, fully extended. Using Robosen's clever robotics, it automatically unfolds and tilts vertically into a nearly flat rectangular shield, complete with an integrated, articulating sentry blaster. In truck mode, it houses the Roller vehicle and human sidekick Spike "who is ready to jump into action or enjoy the ride." The blaster can also be mounted for "further firepower and support," according to Robosen.

The trailer and Optimus Prime robotic are expensive, but unlike other collectibles, the price appears to be justified. The company promises "meticulous" craftsmanship, high-grade metal allow parts and cutting-edge robotics tech. It uses 18 of Robosen's proprietary servo motors and 60 microchips, with over 2,000 components in total.

The first teaser trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was released, giving fans an exciting preview of the 90s nostalgia and fresh set of characters in this addition to the Transformers film series. This addition is planned to be the first installment for a new trilogy, which follows the same continuity as Bumblebee from 2018. Inspired by the 1996 Transformers: Beast Wars television show, this movie will feature two new factions of Transformers: the animalistic Maximals and the dangerous Terrorcons. The teaser trailer features a first look at the expanded roster of Transformers ready to hit the big screen, so we take a look and get primed for the action that is on its way.

The trailer pulls no punches and quickly throws viewers into the action with a shot of an enormous mechanical gorilla leaping into the scene and beating its chest like King Kong. This shot is an exciting moment for fans of the extended Transformers universe as it shows the leader of the Maximals, Optimus Primal, in all his power. The name isn't a typo either; Optimus Primal is the leader of the Maximals in the same vein that Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots. In the television show, the Maximals were a faction of Transformers descended from the Autobots, continuing to fight for their home against evil forces. Though unconfirmed by the trailer, it's likely that the Maximals have come from the future as well with Primal, voiced by Ron Perlman, warning Optimus Prime of the impending danger from "both your past and future."

We're also given a look at Bumblebee with an upgraded design from his 2018 movie. Bridging the gap between the 80s and 2000s versions of the character, this revamped Bee has all the recognizable features of the bot in an upgraded, yet still retro, design. Though Bee was the star of the previous Transformers movie, it appears that he will be sharing the spotlight with the other new additions to the cast. The trailer also introduces us to Noah and Mirage. Noah, played by Anthony Ramos, will take the ever-important position of human ally for the Autobots. Continuing the legacy of Sam Witwicky, Noah is shown in frantic disarray as his car, emblazoned with the Autobot logo viewers are familiar with, takes control and forces him to flee from the police.

The trailer continues to share the expanded roster of robots in disguise in a series of thrilling action shots. We see Bumblebee in a vehicle mode more focused on off-road than previous forms. Alongside him is the next Maximal we are introduced to: Cheetor. The sprinting, mechanized cheetah looms over Bee, making it clear that though the Maximals derive their alternate modes from animals, they are altered versions that look more Cybertronian than Earth-based. The interactions between the two yellow bots will be exciting for fans, as both Bumblebee and Cheetor hold the "younger brother" role amidst their respective factions. They are both speedy, confident, yellow, and carry a youthfulness that makes them integral to their team dynamics.

Following the falcon we see Arcee, the most iconic female Autobot. Though she has appeared in some live-action films previously, this iteration of the character looks to have a larger and more dynamic role in this movie. Her design, like Prime's, is reminiscent of her look in the original television series, but updated to modern aesthetic. Considering the abundance of male Transformers in the franchise, the inclusion of Arcee is an exciting progression for the series. She is seen grabbing onto a Volkswagen camper van to help her skate across the road and fight back against her opponent. In keeping with the "Robots in Disguise" tagline, the VW van itself is actually another Autobot in their alternate mode. Wheeljack, one of the top Autobot scientists, appeared briefly in Bubmblebee and forgoes the usual look he has had in other versions to take the form of a more discreet van in this trailer. Liza Koshy voices Arcee and Cristo Fernández will voice Wheeljack.
