Looking for guidance (because I suspect the solution requires "multi-lateral" cooperation) on the most practical FOSS solution for "remote desktop" access to "IoT servers" in the farm.
- Bookworm busted RealVNC - not running any RealVNC program right now
- Raspberry Pi has:
- Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm
- WayVNC? (not enabled by default)
- Wayland support
- My desktop has:
- Ubuntu 23.10
- TigerVNC viewer
Using fresh RPi installs only, I enabled VNC service on one headless RPi and the TigerVNC viewer was able to connect (after exchanging credentials). I terminated the session and tried to connect again with the viewer but received the following message:
Failed to connect to "server.domainname"
unable to connect to socket: Connection refused (111)
Reading a thread posted earlier today, I connected to the RPi using SSH and ran a long task. While it was running I tried the viewer again from my desktop and received the above message. I do not have TigerVNC server on the RPi because I believe that WayVNC can do the job (but of course my knowledge is at Dummy grade level).
Looking forward to suggestions because I need to run the majority of the RPi computers in headless mode but occasionally need to work on graphical IDEs. Thanks.
Regards.
