One of the Auburn Tigers’ most productive players from last season could return to college basketball next year.
Former Auburn forward Keyshawn Hall was recently granted a fight year of eligibility through a preliminary injunction in Ohio, his home state, and is “exploring multiple college options” as he decides where he wishes to play the 2026-27 season.

Hall has spent the last couple of months on the Summer League roster after going undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft and signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Miami Heat. He saw action in five games in July, during which he averaged 3.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Hall declared for the draft on April 20 while simultaneously maintaining his college eligibility, and he entered the transfer portal in the event that he was granted a fifth season. Thus, he was planning on leaving Auburn no matter what — either by signing a professional contract or coming back to college to play elsewhere.
However, he wasn’t the only one who earned extra eligibility. The preliminary injunction lawsuit in Ohio also affected others throughout the country, including Cincinnati’s MJ Collins and Xavier forward Filip Borovicanin, who are now planning to return to their respective schools.
Auburn marked Hall’s fourth school in four years, as he spent just one season in the orange and blue after transferring in from UCF last offseason. He posted 19.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a senior with the Tigers, earning him Third Team All-SEC honors.

Auburn forward Keyshawn Hall signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Miami Heat shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 NBA Draft and would go on to play in five games with the Heat as part of the NBA Summer League earlier this month.
Usually, playing in the NBA Summer League is a clear sign that a player has exhausted his collegiate eligibility and has shifted focus to a professional career. However, that may not be the case for Hall.
Joe Tipton of On3 reported Thursday that Hall has been granted a fifth season of eligibility through a preliminary injunction, and will explore the possibility of signing with another program for his final season of eligibility.
The ruling most likely stems from the new NCAA eligibility ruling, otherwise known as the "5-for-5" ruling that allows athletes to play their respective sport for five seasons beginning when the athlete enrolls with a university as a full-time student, or the start of the academic year following the athlete's 19th birthday, whichever comes first. The rule allows student-athletes to compete for five seasons, virtually eliminating traditional redshirt rules and medical hardships.
Hall is taking 5-for-5 literally
If Hall signs with a program, it will mark the fifth program he has played for in five seasons. He signed with Auburn through the transfer portal last offseason after leading the Big 12 in scoring at UCF as a junior. Before his time in Orlando with the Knights, Hall started 28 games for George Mason after starting his career at UNLV.
Hall has an impressive resume
College basketball programs usually have their rosters filled in July ahead of the fall semester, which gets underway in August. However, several programs could benefit from having Hall on their roster. Hall has averaged over 16 points and at least seven rebounds per game over the last three seasons, and has accolades galore, including a third-team SEC honor and an All-NIT squad nod last season.
Playing for a Power Conference team may be out of the cards for Hall this late in the cycle, but if a program needs to fill a hole at forward, Hall may be the perfect fit.
Is a reunion with Auburn possible?
As previously mentioned, most programs have already filled their rosters for the 2026-27 season, including the Auburn Tigers. Thanks to the transfer portal and NBA free agency, Steven Pearl needed to fill several spots this offseason. He did so by landing a trio of transfer forwards in Adam Olsen, Owen Freeman, and Thomas Dowd to pair with returning guards Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton.
A reunion between Hall and Auburn is not officially ruled out, but it is highly unlikely due to the depth Steven Pearl has built at forward this offseason.
