4-star iOL Reed Ramsier commits to Auburn over Texas

By Zach Blostein

Reed Ramsier, the state of Florida's top interior offensive line recruit, has committed to Auburn, marking a big-time recruiting win for first year head coach Alex Golesh and his staff.

The Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy standout picked the Tigers over his other top option, Texas.

Ramsier's relationship with the staff at Auburn dates back to their time at South Florida. Golesh and his staff at USF gave the Central Florida offensive lineman one of his first scholarship offers back in May of 2024.

That longterm bond paid off, giving the Tigers the edge over an SEC foe in the end.

"I think it's just the relationships the most," Ramsier said of what stood out about Auburn earlier this year. "Those coaches -- every single coach on that staff seems like they're all just great people. I feel like I hear a lot of other recruits say that as well. Everyone in that facility treats each other like family. When I'm a freshman and I'm having a bad day, I want to be around people that will support me and lift me up, but then at the same time they'll coach me hard and they'll get me better and develop me. I feel like that's a great place I could do that at. It is pretty close to home -- about a six-hour drive. You can fly into Atlanta; it's not too far at all."

He becomes the fourth offensive line recruit, and second blue-chipper at the position, to join Auburn's 2027 recruiting class.

Ramsier, a four-star prospect on 247Sports, projects to play either guard or center at the next level.

The Navy All-American holds 38 scholarship offers, including from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami and Oregon.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder ranks as the No. 228 overall prospect and No. 12 interior offensive line recruit in the country per 247Sports.

BREAKING: 4-star IOL Reed Ramsier commits to Auburn over Texas

By Jeffrey Lee

The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.) four-star interior offensive lineman Reed Ramsier has committed to Auburn.

Ramsier, who is ranked the No. 20 interior offensive lineman in the country, announced his decision Monday on social media. He chose Auburn over Texas, Florida and Clemson, among others.

“I feel like the program is aligned from the top down,” Ramsier said. “Everyone has the same common goal in mind. They want to win, but they want to have fun while they do it and love each other while they do it.

“I feel like it’s just one big family and everyone is just pushing each other to get better. That’s really what I like about (Auburn). A lot of people say it feels like a family, but it truly is a family,”

Ramsier’s commitment to Auburn comes after taking an official visit over the weekend.

“It was awesome … was great to be back at Auburn,” he said. “It was fun. There was a lot of good time spent with coaches watching film, talking about development, talking about me getting better as a player and as a person. Spending time with Cole Skinner. He’s a great dude. Being able to talk to him one-on-one about how he likes Auburn. It was just a great overall visit.”

Ramsier was scheduled to take an official visit to Texas June 12-14, but that visit no longer will happen.

“100% committed,” Ramsier said.

The Rivals Industry Ranking ranks Ramsier the No. 306 overall recruit in the country and No. 27 in Florida. He is Auburn’s fourth offensive line commitment in the 2027 class, joining four-star guard/tackle Layton von Brandt, three-star tackle Rance Brown and three-star guard Jaylon Moore.

Auburn could look to add one more high school lineman to the class with two of the top targets being Niko Kampas and Kal-El Johnson.

Auburn Football Nabs Four-Star 2027 Offensive Lineman

By Griffin Barfield
Auburn Tigers on SI

The Auburn Tigers are continuing their hot streak of recruiting, going into another week, adding a new piece to the trenches from the 2027 class.

Four-star interior offensive lineman Reed Ramsier announced his commitment to Auburn on Monday afternoon. He announced his commitment to On3, choosing the Tigers over the Texas Longhorns.

https://x.com/Hayesfawcett3/status/2064017387205099780?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2064017387205099780%7Ctwgr%5E25e89368d60e1468d243ed60c9a4cd3116df2554%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fcollege%2Fauburn%2Frecruiting%2Fauburn-football-nabs-four-star-2027-offensive-lineman-reed-ramsier

Rivals’ Industry Ranking has Ramsier ranked as a top 20 interior lineman in the 2027 cycle. The Orlando native is the No. 27 player from the state of Florida.

Ramsier’s only official visit throughout his recruiting process was to Auburn this past weekend, despite going on several unofficial visits to other top programs. Florida, Texas, Clemson and Ohio State were some that hosted the interior lineman over the last several months. However, the lineman bought into the culture that head coach Alex Golesh is building, and that’s all he needed to end his recruiting process.

Auburn was also a consistent leader throughout the process. When the dust settled after most unofficial visits, it seemed like the Tigers or bust for Ramsier. Now, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect will make his way on the Plains in 2027.

Golesh’s first official recruiting class continues to rise after another commitment, going to 15 total pledges for next year’s cycle. That includes four total offensive linemen, and Ramsier is the second interior lineman to join the class.

As of Monday afternoon, the Tigers also have one of the best recruiting classes in the SEC, showing the emphasis the program is putting on upcoming seasons. Auburn is now fourth in the conference in recruiting statistics, only behind Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Florida.

The program is 13th in the country in recruiting, ahead of notable names like Georgia, Texas and LSU, among others.

Golesh will look to keep the momentum going as we head into the summer. The next two weeks will see a small handful of recruits head to the Plains with hopes that the Auburn head coach will be able to bring in more talent before more players announce their commitments to other schools.

However, for a first-year head coach, it’s been an impressive turnaround thus far as the Tigers hold stronger expectations for the 2026 season. Now, their targets are buying into it.

By Jerry Humphrey III

Auburn football landed its 16th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class in 4-star safety Chance Gilbert.

Gilbert’s commitment came late Tuesday evening, and he chose Auburn over the University of Georgia after they made a strong push at the elite hometown prospect.

The Tigers class now ranks No. 10 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings with Gilbert’s commitment.

https://x.com/aldotcomTigers/status/2064145044630573568?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2064145044630573568%7Ctwgr%5E015eddbc2f3cceb010ef7f375058bac5f4bcaa70%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.al.com%2Fauburnfootball%2F2026%2F06%2Fauburn-football-has-a-top-10-recruiting-class-in-2027-after-4-star-safety-commitment.html

Gilbert is ranked in the 247Sports Composite as the No. 56 player, No. 4 safety and No. 4 player from Georgia in the 2027 class.

Despite being listed at 5-foot-11, Gilbert comes out East Coweta High and is a two-sport athlete who also runs track. In 2024, he finished his sophomore with 44 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and a forced fumble per MaxPreps.

Gilbert is also the Tigers second commitment of the day, joining 4-star offensive lineman Reed Ramsier.

Elite top-100 safety Chance Gilbert commits to Auburn over Georgia

By Christian Clemente

Chance Gilbert took his official visits to Georgia and then Auburn the past two weekends, then said it was time to make a decision.

The Peach State product announced that his decision is Auburn. While the Bulldogs were considered the heavy favorite and named his public leader for a good portion of the process, Auburn was able to get him on campus multiple times in the spring and then again for his official visit over the weekend. His official visit swung things in favor of the Tigers.

From East Coweta (Ga.), Gilbert is listed at 5-foot-11.5 and 170 pounds. He's ranked in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite as the No. 56 player, No. 4 safety and No. 4 player from Georgia in the 2027 class. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 96 player, No. 8 safety and No. 8 player from Georgia.

"Like I said, the players. Being around the players is what stood out," Gilbert said after his official visit. "I mean, the campus is beautiful. Outside of the campus, all the restaurants around, really beautiful. I love stuff like that. That's where I'm from. Coming from Senoia, Georgia, they remind me a lot of it."

While Georgia was recruiting Gilbert to play cornerback, Auburn recruited him to play the position he's ranked as and was a safety target for the staff. Safeties coach Tim Banks led the way in his recruitment, with defensive coordinator DJ Durkin also playing a role.

Alabama, Clemson and Georgia Tech were other schools that Gilbert considered throughout the process and earlier this year, but he ended up trimming his list down to Auburn and Georgia before summer official visit season. Now it's just Auburn.

Auburn's 2027 class is now up to 16 commitments with the addition of Gilbert. The class jumps from No. 19 all the way up to No. 10 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings with Gilbert now in the fold.

BREAKING: 4-star DB Chance Gilbert commits to Auburn over Georgia

By Jeffrey Lee

East Coweta (Sharpsburg, Ga.) four-star defensive back Chance Gilbert has committed to Auburn.

Gilbert, who is ranked the No. 8 cornerback in the country, announced his decision Monday night on social media. He chose Auburn over Georgia and many others.

Gilbert’s commitment comes one day after leaving an official visit to Auburn.

“I really love the environment when it comes to Auburn,” Gilbert said. “That’s the number one thing that stood out.”

Gilbert said Auburn is recruiting him to play safety. He spent a lot of time with player host Champ Anthony and safeties coach Tim Banks.

“Being around the coaches and the players really stood out for me, especially Champ,” Gilbert said. “He’s definitely a guy I’ve been around. He’s been speaking about God. I love players like that. He’s the first person out of all the visits I’ve been to who actually spoke about stuff like that.

“Like I said, the players. Being around the players is what stood out. I mean, the campus is beautiful. Outside of the campus, all the restaurants around, really beautiful. I love stuff like that. That’s where I’m from. Coming from Senoia, Georgia, they remind me a lot of it.”

Gilbert the 16th commitment in Auburn’s 2027 class and first safety.

The Rivals Industry Ranking ranks Gilbert the No. 55 overall recruit in the country and No. 4 in Georgia.

Gilbert Scouting Summary

Rivals.com’s Charles Power on Gilbert

Versatile defensive back with a well-rounded combination of athleticism, ball skills, and overall coordination. Measured in at around 5-foot-11.5, 175 pounds with solid length prior to his senior season. Lines up at corner, safety, wide receiver, and kick returner for his high school team. Flashes a smooth, quick back pedal in coverage.

Easily transitions from his pedal and has the long speed to run stride for stride with receivers on vertical routes. Good overall reactive quickness in man coverage. Shows quality instincts in coverage, both at corner and safety, jumping routes to make plays on the football. Finished his junior season with three picks and 11 pass breakups. Shows some physicality and striking power despite not being the biggest defensive back at this stage. Athleticism and playmaking ability is apparent on offense and special teams. Scored four different ways as a junior: receiving, rushing, kickoff return, and interception return. Long speed is apparent once he gets to the second level.

Doubles as a talented sprinter with a personal best of 10.57 seconds in the 100 meters as a sophomore. Looks to have the highest upside at corner at this stage and will need to continue adding mass and strength. Well-rounded skill set points to quality upside and the potential to develop into an early round draft pick.

Auburn Snags Four-Star Safety, Adds to Top-Rated 2027 Class

By Brooks Crew
Auburn Tigers on SI

The Auburn Tigers have been on a recruiting heater as of late, and on Monday night, Alex Golesh and company added their second commit of the day to their 2027 class in four-star prospect Chance Gilbert.

Gilbert is a 6-foot, 170-pound safety/cornerback hybrid who originally hails from East Coweta in Sharpsburg, Ga. A blue-chip prospect, Gilbert is currently rated as the fourth-best safety in the 2027 class as well as the fourth-best overall player from the state of Georgia.

With this commitment, the Tigers’ 2027 class is now 247Sports’ 15th-best class and On3’s 11th-best class with 16 total commits.

This is a massive recruiting win for the Tigers, who are adding their second four-star of the day to the class after the earlier acquisition of Reed Ramsier, a four-star offensive lineman. Gilbert will be a fantastic addition to an Auburn secondary that has had quite a bit of uncertainty surrounding its future, especially as Golesh’s reign is still settling in.

Depending on where the Tigers end up putting him, Gilbert is either the third defensive back or the first safety picked up in the Tigers’ 2027 class. He is also the sixth player from the state of Georgia to join the Tigers’ 2027 class, which currently holds the most Auburn commits of any state.

This commitment also furthers the point supporting Golesh’s ability to pick up high-rated players, as Gilbert is currently rated as the 96th-best player in the class. He is Auburn’s third top-100 commit, joining running back Myson Johnson-Cook, who is rated as the 74th-best in the class, and linebacker Isaac McNeil, the 87th-best player in the class.

As it stands, Auburn’s 2027 recruiting class currently is made up of the following recruits:

Auburn 2027 Commits

QB Gary Chatman Jr, Brookwood, Ga. (three-star)
RB Myson Johnson-Cook, East St. Louis, Ill. (four-star)
RB Kingston Miles, St. Mary’s, St. Louis, Mo. (four-star)
WR Brylan Oduor, Riverdale, Tenn. (three-star)
WR James Branch, St. Frances, Md. (three-star)
TE George Lamons Jr, Brooks County, Ga. (three-star)
OL Layton Von Brandt, Appoquinimink, De. (four-star)
OL Reed Ramsier, Orlando, Fl. (four-star)
OL Jaylon Moore, Creekside, Ga. (three-star)
OL Rance Brown, Brentwood Academy, Tenn. (three-star)
EDGE Isaac McNeil, Vigor, Ala. (four-star)
DL Donivan Moore, Bessemer City, Ala. (four-star)
LB Kareem Palmer, Toombs County, Ga. (three-star)
S Chance Gilbert, Sharpsburg, Ga. (four-star)
CB Aidyn Wiggins, Byrnes, SC. (three-star)
CB Nash Johnson III, McEachern, Ga. (three-star)
K Noah Ash, Ponte Vedra, Fla. (three-star)

Four-Star Prospect Puts Auburn Tigers As Final Candidate Ahead of Commitment Date

By Brooks Crew
Auburn Tigers on SI

Last year, the Auburn Tigers had two of the best edge rushers in the country in Keldric Faulk and Keyron Crawford. After the NFL Draft, though, the future of the room has become uncertain, as Faulk was taken in the first round and Crawford in the third.

However, that could quickly change on Wednesday, when Rion Jackson is set to announce his commitment.

https://x.com/Rivals/status/2064085076992766445?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2064085076992766445%7Ctwgr%5E30665bf0faecf14a393bebc0c5a083c468849e8f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fcollege%2Fauburn%2Frecruiting%2Ffour-star-prospect-puts-auburn-tigers-as-final-candidate-ahead-of-commitment-date-rion-jackson

Jackson is a 6-foot-4, 218-pound edge rusher who hails from Annapolis, Maryland. A four-star prospect, Jackson is currently rated as the 30th-best edge rusher in the 2027 class as well as the eighth-best player from his home state of Maryland.

The Tigers have yet to land an edge rusher in their 2027 class, so Jackson’s commitment could be huge for how well Auburn’s first full class under Alex Golesh rounds out. That is not to say that the Tigers are not after other edge rushers, though. After all, two top Tigers went to the Draft, and there is plenty of room to fill those massive shoes.

For starters, Marquise Evans, a three-star edge rusher, visited the Plains this past weekend and currently stands with a 93% chance to land on the Plains, per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. Additionally, James Pace, another four-star edge rusher, took a trip to the Plains on the same visit as Jackson, and he also currently stands with a 93% chance to land at Auburn.

If the Tigers can land this trio, or even two of the three, they will certainly be well-poised for another dominant set of seasons off the edge, once the 2027 class makes their way to the Plains following the conclusion of the 2026 season.

As it stands, the Tigers will enter the 2026 season with one big-name player, as well as some sleeper picks, off the edge. Da’Shawn Womack, of course, has made the most headlines, given his four-star transfer status and designation as the former third-ranked edge rusher in his class, but three-star Missouri transfer Nate Johnson and former four-star prospect Darrion Smith could very well make waves in quite the same way.

Regardless of what happens this season, though, the Tigers’ edge rushing room could certainly get a significant boost from Jackson, provided they are able to snag him away from the only other contender: Virginia Tech. Now led by James Franklin, the former head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Cavaliers are shaping up to be a difficult program to win against in recruiting battles, so a win here would be monumental for Alex Golesh and his program.

Currently, Jackson stands with a 95% chance to land at Auburn, with just a 2% chance being allocated to the Hokies.

Hawai’i-Based Four-Star Athlete Talks 2028 Recruitment, Interest in Auburn Tigers

By Brooks Crew
Auburn Tigers on SI

Alex Golesh and the Auburn Tigers have been hard on the recruiting trail over the past few weeks, landing several top class of 2027 commits, but that does not mean Golesh is neglecting the 2028 class, or even places outside of continental America.

Case in point: last Tuesday, the Tigers offered King Pitts, a four-star athlete from Kapa’a, Hawai’i. Pitts, whose 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame enables him to play offensive line, defensive line, tight end or just about anywhere else his team needs him, is currently rated as the 15th-best athlete in the 2028 class as well as the second-best player from the state of Hawai’i.

https://x.com/KingPitts0/status/2061911634264924396?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2061911634264924396%7Ctwgr%5E9e0365ab376defb43589797482de319ee3880287%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fcollege%2Fauburn%2Frecruiting%2Fhawaii-based-four-star-athlete-talks-2028-recruitment-interest-in-auburn-tigers-king-pitts

After Pitts received his offer, Auburn Tigers on SI caught up with the versatile Aloha State native to talk all things Auburn, including his conversation with a key Tiger coach.

“When Coach King [Vontrell King-Williams] reached out, he seemed like a very cool guy,” he said. “It was very nice. He was just a chill dude, you know? The conversation itself was very natural. As for the offer itself, [Auburn] is a great program. The rivalry against Alabama is, man, it’s electric.”

Of course, visiting Auburn is much more of an ordeal for Pitts than it would be for someone living in the continental United States, but he maintains that he would love to visit if he and his family can make it work.

As for where Auburn stands on Pitts’ list, it is still too early to call for the class of 2028 prospect, who still has a full two seasons of high school football left before it will be time to make an official decision.

Pitts told us that he has recently been working more on his game on the defensive line, though he has also found some reps at a position few would expect from a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder: wide receiver.

“I got some wheels, you know,” he said with a chuckle. “This year, I got a chance to show my athleticism… I model that game after Megatron [Calvin Johnson], but I kind of study multiple players to get multiple aspects, take a little bit from everybody’s game.”

Ideally, Pitts wants to land at a program that focuses on one key aspect: development.

“I need a team or program that’s gonna pour in,” he said. “Make sure I’m developing in the best way I possibly can. Just so I know I’m at the peak of my game. As good as I can be.”

The Tigers could have an incredibly versatile option in Pitts if they are able to get him to commit down the road, but they will have to compete with other top offers, including Alabama and Georgia.

Former Auburn Tigers QB Jeremy Johnson just finished authoring a pro football dynasty playing abroad

By Mauricio Rodriguez

This one meant more to Jeremy Johnson, for football and personal reasons alike.

In the hours leading up to the Tazón México (Mexico Bowl), the former Auburn Tigers quarterback wore a T-shirt with pictures of his family, including his mother Latasha Johnson, who passed away last year. The T-shirt read “We Love You.”

In a matter of hours, Johnson would play for something he’s grown very familiar to: History in Mexico’s pro football league, the LFA (Liga de Fútbol Americano). With a win, his Chihuahua Caudillos would become the first ever team to win three championships in a four-year span. A true dynasty.

He delivered.

Johnson authors first Mexican dynasty in pro football

On Sunday, the Caudillos beat the Monterrey Osos 24-12. It was their third championship since joining the LFA in 2023. With the win, Johnson also secured his third ring since he took over the Caudillos.

And though the championship game was more of a defensive showdown, Johnson is the favorite to be named MVP for the season later in the year. He led the LFA in passing yards, touchdowns, and passer rating.

Beyond the history, the championship run was the end of Johnson’s redemption tour. Last year, he didn’t join the Caudillos until late in the season. By that point, Chihuahua was already struggling and logistics problems kept Johnson from ever gaining any real chemistry with his wide receivers.

The Caudillos, which went undefeated in back-to-back seasons in 2023-2024, were eliminated in the semifinals. Following that loss, Johnson promised the Caudillos would be back.

Since the moment he showed up to Chihuahua in 2026, it was clear things were different. Johnson lost weight and got into much better shape than in 2025. He immediately took control of the locker room and reaffirmed his leadership on the team. The Caudillos led the most prolific offense in Mexico, earning the top seed in the league.

But none of it would have mattered without a win on Sunday. With it, Johnson rights what he viewed as a wrong last year. And it may be the perfect opportunity for him to say goodbye to his playing days.

https://www.instagram.com/6_trusss/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=4231c270-6e42-42b8-bcd2-2d742526d8db

Johnson to pursue coaching career

While Johnson hasn’t announced any official decision on his future yet, he’s flirted with retirement ever since 2023. Though he came back for more each year since then, it’s clear he plans to prioritize coaching over playing. Multiple times this year, he has suggested this was his last season quarterbacking

The main reason isn’t his age nor his play. It’s his desire to coach. In 2024, Johnson discussed his love for coaching with A to Z Sports.

“(Coaching) is my goal,” Johnson said. “That’s what I firmly believe in. I think I’m a great coach, man, I think I love coaching, more than I love playing, for sure, it is not even close because it’s more exciting watching and seeing someone that you tried to help and build and be better than what you were and to go out and see kids play and perform. That excited me more than going out there and throwing touchdowns and playing games.”

Earlier this year, Johnson accepted an offensive coordinator position in Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City. With the LFA expected to expand in teams next year, a longer schedule is projected in Mexico. That could cause conflict with his coaching career.

If it doesn’t, maybe the door remains ajar. But at this point, Johnson gets to make a decision on his own terms. He’s got three rings and an ultimate case to be the LFA’s GOAT.

His redemption tour is complete. Not that he really needed one.
