Exactly. The worst change in all iOS 17. They also changed the vibration so all apps have the same vibration. I used to recognize apps via the vibration and I knew what is important and what is not only by the vibration. So now I am looking for a way to downgrade because notifications are the BASICS of the phone and they changed it without a chance to customise it back yourself. No thanks.

I hate this, but the way I fixed it was shortened a song on my MacBook and made sure i could see it in my Music. Then configure an automation on the iPhone (Shortcuts>Automation) that would set a tone when a certain person texted me - you can also do for specific works as well. I had it set to run automatically, and then tested it out.

I really don't like this change, and because i only had 1 different tone needed for a single person the automation worked. If it was for everyone/Everything - it would totally be a different experience.

It uses the default tone on IOS. This was a change from apple, not Hubitat. You can use pushover and use different sounds based on the severity of the notifications. It's what I've been using for years.

On my iPhone 14 pro, the instagram app seems to have a different notification tone, as opposed to what I selected to be the default text tone (note). The other apps are just fine with the tone I selected. I have gone through the settings but to no avail. I just want Instagram to also have the same notification tone as all other apps.

That's correct. Instagram chose the notification tone and it is not usable selectable. This has nothing to do with Apple as Apple doesn't own Instagram. Over the years many have complained about the Instagram notification tone. But the complaints are misdirected and need to be directed to Instagram itself.

Maybe it does have something to do with the new IOS 17 cause I had this issue when my iPhone was running on IOS 17 beta. Then I downgraded it back to IOS 16 and somehow the issue was fixed. Last night I updated my IOS back to 17 and here it is again, the same beep type of sound that's barely audible from a.distance, most of my Instagram notifications go unnoticed

You are NOT speaking with Apple. This is a user to user only forum. So we can't fix anything. And Apple doesn't own Instagram, so if you're not satisfied with the tone, contact them. Apple has nothing to do with the tone 3rd party application developers implement.

If you read the thread, you'll see that Apple doesn't own Instagram. Only Instagram can change the sound of their notifications. But since you want to tell Apple what they need to do, you haven't done that here. This is a user to user only forum. Apple isn't here, nor reading these posts.

I did notice that along with my text tones volume being about 30% lower than my ringer volume. even when I pick the same tone.. that some of my purchased tone sounds were missing.. last nights update restored them back to where they were.. BUT still having issues with the lower volume on the text notifications.. I have tried every solution on this message board with no luck.. Actually, I had someone vandalize my mailbox in the middle of the night because I didn't hear my text notifications from my security camera.. this needs to be fixed asap!!! it is definitely some sort of bug in the update.

I thought that I was the only one who had exactly the same issue. I had many iOS devices but nothing had this issue. Notification sounds are way too low than on my older 5s. Ringer volume is good as should be but notifications sucks. Is there any way out of this situation pls let me know

My iphone 13 notification volume is very low. It's very annoying. It's a company phone, I'm missing notifications from my boss, and I can't sit and stare at my phone all day. I'm very frustrated, nothing is working.

Hey @KW1! The nature of an apple watch is to take priority of notifications when enabled. This means that when your watch is receiving your notifications, the IOS mobile device will not play the audio by design. This is specifically IOS intended operation, so if you were able to get audible alerts at one point, then it might be a setting on the mobile phone itself. The Ring app has no control over this functionality aside from simply sending the notification out.

To ensure these notifications tones are working correctly, it would be best to eliminate the watch from the equation temporarily. With the IOS smart phone, ensure notifications are on and sound is on. Then visit the Ring app and enable motion and ring alerts for your devices. Finally, test to make sure the notifications and sounds are making it too the mobile phone.

UPDATE EDIT: I also experimented in MacroDroid with giving unique notification tones to Person, Pet, Vehicle, and Package notifications which also worked well. Currently working on combining type and cam tones and recording my own voice notification tones.

Since iOS 17 has been released, iPhone customers have been voicing their thoughts about the new sound on social media. While some people are expressing enthusiasm for the new tone, others are not liking the change.

In Settings -> Sounds, you can choose your own ringtone, text tone, and alert sounds for voicemail and system apps like mail and calendar alerts. But these options do not influence the sounds of alerts from third-party apps. As of iOS 17.0, the Settings app simply offers no controls to change the sounds that third-party apps make.

Both mine and my husband's iPhone 7's have started to make a sound like a sonar binging/echoing. It's one long, six short, "Booong, bip bip bip bip bip bip". It absolutely freaks me out. Sometimes it happens in the middle of the night, sometimes the middle of the day. It can happen while it's plugged in or just in my pocket. I also can't find anything that it correlates to as far as incoming mail/messages/notifications. I've tried turning off all notifications in settings. It happens several times a week on each phone. It sounds like the Russian hackers are about to blow us up. This is my first thought every time, and that is WITHOUT any THC. Or the best case scenario, Will has leapt out of Netflix and is trying hard to contact us. Who's paranoid now?!!! If someone could tell me what it is and how to stop it, it would probably keep me from tossing my phone over a bridge one of these days, not to mention save my husband's sanity as he is getting pretty tired of hearing about how much I don't like it.

Kellanved I have the exact same issue! Did you ever find a solution? My iPhoneX randomly plays a newscaster type of tone. I cannot find it in any of the tone sections. It happens regardless if all apps are open or closed. The only way to stop the tone is to unlock the phone. If the phone is unlocked, you have to lock the phone and then unlock it. No music or streaming apps are playing. I've had this problem for well over a year. It may not happen for months, and then yesterday it happened seven times in the course of five mins.

Help! What was the solution here? I'm checking forums, I've done a number of suggestions and my husband is about to lose his mind. I finally heard the sound today, its totally like a gong and I have turned off notifications, the payment settings etc; unsure what else to do.
Suggestions appreciated!

Hello, I wanted to know how to change the sound of notifications from the tapo app or from the sensors in ios (iphone) when they are activated because it is just a beep and if you are sleeping you do not feel it and this issue has me very concerned.
Thank you in advance

I also have the same issue. The notification sound for the C325WB is to weak (in both the volume and type of sound issued) to be heard well. Also, I have the iPhone notifications volume set to maximum.

I recently setup a home security automation setup using Tapo Hub, motion sensors and smart switch which power a siren. When I am out of town notifications in Tapo app will also allow me to quickly reach out to neighbour for help.

So I too see an issue with Tapo app notifications for such sensitive actions, a mere beep in the middle of the night will not help. Such a critical functional feature should be managed by the app rather than the mobile platform.

If you only want to receive notifications during certain hours or on certain days, you can set a notification schedule. Outside the days and hours that you set for your schedule, your notifications will be paused.

By default, the Slack app will run in the notifications area even when the window is closed. Choosing not to leave the app running will remove the Slack icon and badges from your notifications area. Here's how to keep the app from running in the notifications area when the window is closed:

If you want to change what messages you're notified about in specific channels or direct messages, you can configure conversation-specific notifications. If you'd rather not receive notifications about any messages in a particular channel or direct message, you can mute the conversation.
