I'm currently having a problem with my system where the full 2560x1440 resolution of my Dell U2711 monitor isn't well supported by my ASUS G73S laptop (it has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX440M CUDA with 1.5GB RAM). The laptop doesn't have DVI-D or DisplayPort outputs and the monitor doesn't officially support that resolution over HDMI. So, to work around it I added a "Custom Resolution" in the nvidia control panel. This works until the computer sleeps or reboots, at which point it stops working and the display driver freaks out, refusing to display on either the internal or external display until I unplug the HDMI connector.

If I get the external monitor to show a lower resolution I can successfully "upgrade" the resolution - I just have to make sure the laptop first uses the default 1920x1080 resolution that is better supported. Then I can increase that afterwards. To do that I have plugged in the VGA connector to the monitor which seems to have changed Windows' idea of my monitor configuration enough that it resets things to defaults. However, I suspect that if I reboot my computer without downgrading the resolution first I'll be in trouble ... I don't have any more monitors to hook up to use this trick!

I'm hoping that I can find a way get the various system components that restore my prior screen resolution to forget those settings so that if I get in trouble I can unplug the external monitor, delete/forget all those remembered display settings, and plug it back in to get to the "defaults" of 1920x1080 on both displays.

I went to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers and deleted subkeys that had DELA in them. These are apparently the keys windows uses to decide what display settings to use when the display configuration changes. Deleting them caused windows to forget the settings and when I plugged the external monitor in it reverted back to mirroring both monitors at a lower resolution that worked.

I solved his issue by downloading teamviewer and then attaching my not working display to my laptop and then connected to my laptop using another pc or mobile device using teamviewer app. then went to screen res and changed it back to normal settings. NOTE, YOU MUST USE TEAMVIEWER, ANY OTHER REMOTE CONTROL APPLICATION ATTACHES ITSELF TO THE COMPUTER AS A DISPLAY.

If you're using Windows 7, an easier way may be to hit the Function + F5 (or F8 depending on manufacturer). If you try this with your external display DISCONNECTED you'll find that you can navigate the options that come up with the arrow keys.

Plug your external monitor back in and both displays should go dark. Go back into the Function + F5 menu, hit your right arrow once (to wrap around to "computer only"), hit "enter" and you should have your laptop monitor back with the external monitor still plugged in. Now you can use the configuration menu to re-enable the external monitor and set the resolution.

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I see from the post that you are having issues opening NVIDIA control panel on your HP notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.

Right Click on Start button - Click on Device Manager - Double click on Display adapters - Double click on NVIDIA graphics card - Click the Driver tab at the top of the window - Click the update Driver button - Click Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will search for and download a driver.

That is my advice after months of tweaking. Plain and simple, default, no tweaks to NCP. Not even changing optimzed to prefer maximum performance does anything!!! Many gaming articles mention that can hinder a computer. My FS2020 just runs the smoothest and less stuttery than ever on default... it is noticable. Now I am on a ASUS ROG 703 Chimera laptop if that is any help, but I can run on ULTRA no issues on default FS2020 aircraft and scenery at 30-50 FPS. I always have. But it is an i9 beast for a laptop....

There is one good setting... I turn off the sharpening in the MSFS user config file, as it is over sharp in my opinion.
I then set sharpening to 40% in the Nvidia control panel, and that looks good to me (I use 4k).

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

The NVIDIA Control Panel allows you to customize your NVIDIA graphics card's settings, from resolution and color to text filtering to antialiasing. However, malfunctioning drivers, processes, and services can cause the NVIDIA Control Panel to fail to open. Here are some fixes you can try if a simple restart doesn't work for you.

Sometimes, running an app with administrator privileges can help fix permission-related issues that prevent it from opening. To do that, click "Search" in the Taskbar and type "NVIDIA control panel" in the Search box. In the search results, click "Run as Administrator."

If the NVIDIA graphics driver encounters a problem, it will also affect the NVIDIA Control Panel. When you perform a clean install of the NVIDIA graphics driver, you'll remove all traces of the old problematic driver. Once your older driver has been removed, install a fresh copy of the driver. If everything works out, NVIDIA Control Panel will open without issues.

Fast Startup helps your computer boot faster by saving its current state in a hibernation file. Because of this, your computer doesn't clear everything the way it would if it were shut down normally. This can interfere with how some apps, such as the NVIDIA Control Panel, start when you boot it back up.

To make sure that the necessary NVIDIA services are running, press Win+R to open Windows Run, type "services.msc," and click "OK." In Services, right-click "NVIDIA Display Container LS" and select "Start" or "Restart."

If the resetting NVIDIA Control Panel didn't help, you should try uninstalling the app. Then, you should connect your Windows computer to the internet and install NVIDIA Control Panel from the Microsoft Store. Hopefully, you'll be able to open it afterward and tweak your NVIDIA graphics card settings again.

If all of that fails, you should try using Display Driver Uninstaller to remove any remnants of old drivers that may be on your system. Dedicated driver cleaners aren't typically necessary anymore, but there is no real downside to trying. It is also always possible there is a bug in the current version of the software that prevents it from opening, and installing a slightly older version of the drivers may fix the issue. If none of that does it, then you're left with the nuclear option: reinstall Windows. It isn't ideal, but it ensures that you'll have a fresh start.

Nvidia control panel has grayed out Autodesk products to automatically use GTX 950 Nvidia graphics which is causing a lot of trouble. I have attached the screenshot. Who knows how to ensure that I am able to make AutoCAD use intel graphics. AutoCAD does not run on Nvidia Graphics. I get this error: "Fatal error; Unhandled access violation" which I believe is caused by Nvidia graphics. Kindly help.

Hi @john.vellek My laptop is HP Envy 15 i7-6500 8gb RAM with dedicated graphics Nvidia Geforce GTX 950. My operating system is windows 10 x64. I am using AutoCAD 2015. Did you see the Photos I attached? The photos have all the information. Kindly check. Thank you.

@john.vellek I was able to sort this out. I downloaded an application called Nvidia inspector. I then removed AutoCAD 2015 from Nvidia profile. However, I am stuck in the BSOD problem. Every time I launched AutoCAD, I am able to use it for a few minutes then I get the BSOD. The error has this stop code. Stopecode: VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR. Please help me solve this one.

A BSOD indicates a hardware/driver error. This should be fixed before tackling AutoCAD 2015 on a non-supported configuration. I know that some users have been able to get this configuration working but most have 2015 installed and then upgrade to Windows 10.

Did you create a restore point if so you can restore it from when your system is working fine if not you can follow this steps actually work for me..
or you may update the drivers
Solution 1. Reinstall the driver if you have A discrete GPU
Solution 2. Install motherboard chipset if you have integrated GPU.

Where did you install Firefox from? Help Mozilla uncover 3rd party websites that offer problematic Firefox installation by taking part in our campaign. There will be swag, and you'll be featured in our blog if you manage to report at least 10 valid reports!

I had this problem with sites like facebook, twitter and news sites that have lots of graphics/videos. The recommended fixes didnt. Finally I went to the NVIDIA control panel, MANAGE 3D SETTINGS, and there is a list of apps, I noticed the program Mozilla Firefox was set to use Integrated Graphics. I changed the drop down to choose High Performance Nvidia Processor.
