Hi All,

Wanted to write and introduce our NGO Environmental Synergies in Development (ENSYDE) working towards environmental improvements. Please also visit our website at www.ensydeindia.org for more information.

ENSYDE
designs and implements programmatic solutions for the environment, particularly in the area of energy, water and waste - and education across all 3 areas.

Some of our current key initiatives are:

  • bE-Responsible  - Management of e-waste from households and institutions. Impact so far: reached out to over 6 Lakh citizens; present in 20 wards in Bangalore; collected 7.5 tonnes of e-waste and sent to authorised recyclers; conducted 85 direct campaigns (in resident welfare associations, schools and colleges, malls, etc.); reduced 2 tonnes of carbon and diverted over 44 kgs of toxic metals from landfills. This program is being extended to 10 more wards. Attached is some information on this program.
  • Experiential Environmental Education - ENSYDE has developed and implemented experiential environmental education modules in schools (both government & private) along with community-based projects on energy, water and waste. Through this we wish to bring about behavioural change where each child takes responsibility of being a part of the solution and not just the problem.  Impact so far: In progress/completed in 3 schools with fantastic feedback; implemented over 100 projects through the children in schools, homes and the community. We are now creating such modules for the corporate community through our Sensitization to Action Initiative.
  • Creating water positive & self-reliant communities - after extensive field surveys, community consultations, we are ready to role out a proof of concept (POC) to create a community that understands the importance and need for decentralized water management. The main objective of this innovative program is to create water positive communities.
  • Environmental Sensitizer  - development of an environmental sensitizer for travellers and commuters to take responsibility of their environmental footprint. This tool will help individuals and companies negate their impact by contributing towards environmental projects managed by ENSYDE.

Look forward to partnerships and collaborations.

With regards,

Manvel

Greetings from TiE IoTForum!

I trust you are doing great. Our upcoming IoT Monthly Meetup is on March 15 and this time, the focus is on IoT in Energy.

Internet of Things (IoT) has been revolutionizing almost every industry. With the development of new technologies, the Energy sector across the world is undergoing a massive transformation. With adoption of renewable energy sources (like wind & solar), the landscape is becoming more complex with distributed generation & microgrids, energy storage and electric vehicles.
Significant technology developments have taken place over the last decade in the areas of devices/sensing, communication, data management and data analytics. The data collected from Internet-connected devices can be used to derive wonderful insight and develop new services, enhance productivity and efficiency, improve real-time decision making, solve critical problems, and create new and innovative experiences.
At this meetup, we will explore disruptive transformation in the Energy sector. Join us to understand how IoT can be leveraged in reliable and effective monitoring of sustainable power generation.
