to TIDES Project
Hello TIDES Project
stakeholders
It has been a long
time since I have updated this group and a lot has happened.
A dedicated group of TIDES
Contributors have been hard at work refining the TIDES specification. A beta
version of the spec is now available for review. If you work with AVL, APC, or AFC data,
please take a look at the data tables and fields and see if they will work
for your needs.
As TIDES transitions from
development to production use, we have established a more formal
governance structure with a Board of Directors. We are also making plans for ongoing
development support and management of the specification. Please take a look at the Governance Policy and the Change Management Policy. And please welcome the new TIDES Board.
The annual TIDES Update
meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 10 at 1pm Eastern Time. The
meeting with be held in-person concurrent with the TRB Annual meeting in
Washington, DC and online via Teams. At this meeting we will share more
details on the development of the TIDES specification and next steps for
the project. Register for the meeting here to receive the link.
Looking forward, we see a lot
of opportunity in the next year to put TIDES into use. We expect to see transit agencies,
consultants vendors, and researchers adopt TIDES as their internal data
structure for operations data, and to start to build and share tools to
transfer data into the TIDES format and to create data aggregation and
reporting tools with the data. I
hope you will all consider taking part in this work. Together, we can work
faster and smarter.
If you have
questions, please do not hesitate to reach out or engage with the TIDES team on GitHub.
