ELSAwin Server: What Is It and How to Install It?

If you are a Volkswagen or Audi owner, you may have heard of ELSAwin, a service and repair workshop software that contains detailed information about your vehicle. ELSAwin stands for Electronic Service Information System for Windows, and it covers all VW/Audi group vehicles from 1947 to present. ELSAwin can help you diagnose problems, perform maintenance, and access wiring diagrams, technical bulletins, and parts catalogs.

ELSAwin is not a standalone software, but rather a client-server system that requires a server installation and a client installation. The server installation contains the database and the application files, while the client installation contains the user interface and the access to the server. You can install both the server and the client on the same computer, or you can install them on different computers and connect them via a network.

In this article, we will show you how to install ELSAwin server on Windows 10/11 x64, using the latest version of ELSAwin 6.0. You will need the following files to complete the installation:

SetupCD_5.10

You can download these files from various sources on the internet, such as [MHH AUTO] or [VXDAS Official Blog]. Make sure you have enough disk space to store these files and to install ELSAwin server.

Step 1: Pre-Installation

Before you start the installation, you need to do some preparations on your computer:

Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 from Control Panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off. You need to select the child items for Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) HTTP Activation and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Non-HTTP Activation. Windows 11 users also need to enable PowerShell 2.0 Engine from the same window.

Install Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 SP1 from the folder "0.PreSetup" or from other sources.

Install Adobe Reader DC 2022 from the folder "0.PreSetup" or from other sources.

Turn off your antivirus and firewall software.

You need to reboot your computer after each installation.

Step 2: Server Installation

Now you are ready to install ELSAwin server on your computer. Follow these steps:

Install SetupCD_4.00 by running "setup.exe" as administrator. Enter your name and company as "123" and "321". Choose German and English UK as languages.

Install Base_03.2012 SKODA by running "setup.exe" as administrator. Choose Multi as language.

Install SetupCD_4.10 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install SQL Server 2008 SP1 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

(Optional) Copy drs71's rIdal.C.xx-XX.mdb desired file(s) from Skoda03.2012_patch_for_5.x to folder C:\ElsaWin\data\ if you want to use other languages than German for Skoda.

Install SetupCD_5.00 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install SetupCD_5.10 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install SetupCD_5.20 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install Base_01.2015 SEAT by running "setup.exe" as administrator. Choose Multi as language.

Install SetupCD_5.30 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install Base_01.2016 VW by running "setup.exe" as administrator. Choose Multi as language.

Install Base_02.2016 AUDI by running "setup.exe" as administrator. Choose Multi as language.

If you only want ELSAwin 5.3 2016 with English database, you can stop here. If you want to install ELSAwin 6.0 with VW and AUDI 2017 German database, continue with the next steps.

Install UpdateCD_6.0 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

Install SetupCD_6.0 by running "setup.exe" as administrator.

You need to reboot your computer after each installation.

Step 3: Client Installation

After you have installed ELSAwin server on your computer, you need to install ELSAwin client to access the server. You can install the client on the same computer or on a different computer that is connected to the server via a network. To install the client, follow these steps:

If you are installing the client on the same computer as the server, run "setup.exe" from the folder C:\ElsaWin\Client\ as administrator. If you are installing the client on a different computer, copy the folder C:\ElsaWin\Client\ from the server computer to the client computer and run "setup.exe" from there as administrator.

Enter your name and company as "123" and "321". Choose your desired language and country.

If you are installing the client on a different computer than the server, enter the IP address or hostname of the server computer when prompted.

Finish the installation and reboot your computer.

Step 4: Activation

The last step is to activate ELSAwin on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:

Run ELSAwin from your desktop or start menu as administrator.

Enter "admin" as username and password.

Go to Administration/Registration and enter the following codes for each brand:

AUDI: S4ED-6G9K-89GE-92E2

VW: W7TA-7AKN-7EN5-7HJJ

SEAT: 7H99-TEZ8-ZETE-H9HZ

SKODA: 88QD-8E5K-EAK8-8Q8A

Click OK and close ELSAwin.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed and activated ELSAwin server and client on your computer. You can now use ELSAwin to access detailed information about your Volkswagen or Audi vehicle.
