After registering a license, Fortinet servers may take up to 30 minutes to fully recognize the new license. When you upload the license (.lic) file to activate the FortiGate-VM, if you get an error that the license is invalid, wait 30 minutes and try again.

This document covers important information about products that ship with a KeyServer format license certificate pre-configured to support KeyServer license management, or otherwise leverage our API in their application. It also mentions 3rd party solutions we have direct integrations with.

Certain vendors use the Sassafras Software Development Kit and API to enable certain features or licensing options in their products. These Sassafras Software Partners typically generate an .lic file that goes directly into the KeyServer Data Folder, after which a restart of the KeyServer process creates Policy and Product items that dictate how many copies of the program or programs in question can be run at once. In newer versions of AllSight you can drag the vendor provided .lic file into the Settings -> Advanced -> License Files portion of the web interface. It can take around 10 minutes for the Policy and Product objects to become active when using this method.

These special policies are Scope and Pool configurable, and can be reported against in all the standard ways in both KeyConfigure and the Web Interface. The one exception is that the entitlement limit (Policy's pools' total) cannot be modified to exceed the total limit built into the file by the vendor. Should an administrator receive such a special .lic file, incorporating it into the KeyServer according to the directions from the vendor is all that is needed.

Special cases and general information is listed below. Upgrade issues or bug fixes related to the interaction between these products and KeyServer are briefly described here along with a link to the publisher's web site.

Ableton, Inc. supplies .lic files for their products (Live Suite, Intro and Standard) which you place in the KeyServer Data Folder on the server. While these files build the typical Policy and Product items in the appropriate windows of KeyConfigure, there is further configuration required on a per-computer basis to enable multiuser use of these products on client machines. This process (creation, configuration, and appropriate placement of an 'options.txt' file) is explained in their documentation.

The .lic files are supplied by Cycling'74 and are of the standard variety. Once the files are in the KeyServer Data Folder and the KeyServer process restarted, further configuration in the automatically created Policy is supported, but in no way required.

The .lic files are supplied by Troikatronix and are of the standard variety. Once the files are in the KeyServer Data Folder and the KeyServer process restarted, further configuration in the automatically created Policy is supported, but in no way required.

The case of Sequencher is unique in that it requires a hardware dongle to run. To enable the KeyServer/dongle communication, the vendor provides not only support licenses but some additional remote function libraries (.so or .dll files). The files can be used to drive a KeySight Server or, should the site/admin choose, be incorporated into an existing AllSight environment. GeneCodes provides full documentation on the entire setup process, including configuration of the USB dongle (which is also supplied by them).

MacVector supplies a single .lic file that can drive the KeyServer process as a KeySight instance, or as is commonly the case, be brought into the KeyServer Data Folder of an existing AllSight installation. That is, no license is needed from Sassafras Software as MacVector licenses the ability to also provide the basic server functionality.

Textco supplies a single .lic file that can drive the KeyServer process as a KeySight instance, or as is commonly the case, be brought into the KeyServer Data Folder of an existing AllSight installation. That is, no license is needed from Sassafras Software as Textco licenses the ability to also provide the basic server functionality.

Finale incorporates our API in a manner that makes use of the standard definitions from the Sassafras Software Product Recognition Service (PRS). Sites wanting to control Finale have only to search PRS for 'MakeMusic' and then import the appropriate Standard Product Definition, and then create and configure a concurrent Manage Policy for the Edition in question.

iLab (iLab Solutions LLC, Agilent Technologies) Partnered with Sassafras Software to create a KeyServer Authentication method that allows the ks process to submit access-validating queries to an external Agilent Server, and no additional LIC files or PRS queries are required. You can read more about this integration in our Tech Note

Print Management Solution. You can configure KeyServer to pull printer device information from PaperCut to create a central hardware inventory and leverage our Maps and Lifecycle/Purchase capabilities.

MDM solution for Apple devices. We offer an Admin Script that allows data to be pulled from Jamf in order to create Computer records for iOS devices, as well as update Warranty fields on your MacOS devices.

MDM solution from Microsoft. We offer an Admin Script that allows data to be pulled from Intune in order to create Computer records for Android devices, as well as update various fields on your Windows devices.

I am interested in creating a licence file which will authenticate the use of a Java application. The application will open showing a window if the licence is not found or is invalid. I also want to create a licence generator program which I can use (probably obvious) to create licence files. I have no idea how to do this, does anybody have direction as to where I should go or APIs I should be looking at? Thanks in advance.

In the "Commit message" field, type a short, meaningful commit message that describes the change you made to the file. You can attribute the commit to more than one author in the commit message. For more information, see "Creating a commit with multiple authors."

Below the commit message fields, decide whether to add your commit to the current branch or to a new branch. If your current branch is the default branch, you should choose to create a new branch for your commit and then create a pull request. For more information, see "Creating a pull request."

If you have more than one email address associated with your account on GitHub.com, click the email address drop-down menu and select the email address to use as the Git author email address. Only verified email addresses appear in this drop-down menu. If you enabled email address privacy, then a no-reply will be the default commit author email address. For more information about the exact form the no-reply email address can take, see "Setting your commit email address."

The default Vista or Windows 7 permission settings do not allow applications write permissions to their respective install directories, even if you are logged into a machine as administrator. Stata needs these permissions to create its license file. (This issue has been resolved in Windows 8.)

If a provisioning file from Esri Customer Service is not received, the provisioning file can be created using a template retrieved from ArcGIS Pro: Create a license file for ArcGIS Pro or License Manager Guide: Provisioning files for ArcMap.
