I asked the following question on general discussion forum and was told that it is better suited for this forum as it needs a plugin to be created - clearly I am dealing with something I have no idea about and any help on how can that be achieved or if some kind soul can create a plugin it will be grand indeed. I am sure it will be useful addition to an already wonderful solution that Tiddlywiki is.

I am wondering if there is some way to use the tabulator javascript library and if there is any tutorial you could point me to. I tried to understand javascript related topic on tiddlywiki.com but I guess it was too much for my simplistic brain to comprehend.

What I am really trying to achieve is:

  • On the home page of http://www.tabulator.info/ they have given a table where you can dynamically add, remove cells etc as also shown in screenshot below

tabulator.PNG

  • I want to embed such a table on a tiddler in first instance.
  • If that works I was thinking maybe I can make a template tiddler which can then be used to create such a new tiddler using a button or something similar.
Any guidance will be hugely appreciated.

I found this plugin: http://rboue.tiddlyspot.com/#SocialCalc%2Fintroduction:SocialCalc%2Fintroduction%20SocialCalc%2FDemos%2Fone-plus-one--demo

This seems to be quite good actually so I think this query can now be closed.

Ah, so you were not at all wondering "if there is some way to use the tabulator javascript library" then.
Well, good you found what you needed.

Ankit,

There are mopre table editing and spreadsheet solutions available for tiddlywiki, I suggest making a through search before settling on one. SocialCalc at the address is built on top of a 5.1.8-pre-release. It may still work well, but maybe no.

Regards
Tony

Thanks Tony.

It is working fine as far as I can see. Although if you have some recommendation please do let me know. I checked out Mathcell too but what I understood is that it is for formula driven cells creating one tiddler per cell whereas socialcalc does it all one background tiddler... seems cleaner option for my use case.

Ankit,

I have an application that needs to have a spreadsheet lookalike and at least a csv export to place in spreadsheets. Using that plugin do you know if it would be difficult to populate the sheets from tiddler lists? Similarly export to csv. Let me know if you find out please.

Thanks
Tony

Tony,

I will give it a shot when I am at my desktop and confirm but based on what is written on the plugin link it is possible to do csv export and import... it says:
___
The "Clipboard" menu has more functionnalities. You can import clipboard data from tiddlers, with a choice of different formats. You can also export the clipboard to a data tiddler.
___

Although, am not sure if you could populate sheets using tiddler lists without the clipboard. Fact is I don't know how to do it so I cant even check / test it. :(

Regards,
Ankit.
