Hi all,

didn't know what to do with it, so I just thought I throw it in here:
there's a new WordPress theme with the general intention to let the
user focus more onto the content instead of arts or shiny effects.
Although the theme seems to rely on a heavy load of AJAX libs, I
believe that the idea in general is a true inspiration for TW's - at
least if they're using TagglyTagging or make heavy use of tags in
general:
"Ext JS Wordpress Theme"

What d'ya think?

While I'd probably never choose this as an actual WordPress theme, it is
indeed interesting form a UI perspective.
It incorporates many of the things we'd discussed during the
TiddlyAnniversary celebrations a few weeks ago - so if/when there's a
redesign of the TW UI, this is certainly something we should keep in
mind for general comparison.

I like the fixed-height, scrolling "story column" display...

... and it's easy to add to TW...

Give this inline script a try:

So do I (also because it makes creating certain layouts a lot easier).
However, I think there are a few usability issues with that "overflow"
approach - but I can't remember what exactly those were right now...

You are correct. Automatically scrolling a tiddler into view doesn't
work when using a fixed-height story column.

however... when using SinglePageModePlugin, tiddlers are always
displayed at the top of the story column, so scrolling a tiddler into
view becomes a non-issue.

Another great option would be to use TiddlersBarPlugin (http://
visualtw.ouvaton.org/VisualTW.html#TiddlersBarPlugin) which give it
that same tabbed topbar feel, and only shows the body of one tiddler
at a time.

I took one look at that interface and said 'Sweet!'. That puppy is
never going to be translated for MySpace, they wouldn't know what to
do with something so neat and clean.

I had the same thought, but usability-wise, that plugin probably isn't
quite ready yet for widespread use yet (e.g. there's no easy way to
switch tabs using the keyboard, AFAIK)...

I can tell we live in different worlds. I spend time convincing co-
workers that ctr-C/ctr-V is a better way to cut and paste.

If you just keep hitting tab you do eventually get to the other
tiddlers in the TiddlersBar, so keyboard short cuts should be
doable...for your own set up, but making them not conflict with all
the other plugins someone might install... Well, good luck.

But can you picture this theme on a TW in a webrunner, holding every
contact, project, journal, idea, etc. of some executive? Throw in
encryption to sweeten the deal, and all it is going to need is a way
to integrate with Outlook (As it is what corp types run).
