I have been working succesfully with my TiddlyWiki page for about 6 months without a problem.  Something changed recently and now I can't save changes.  When I make an edit, and try to save it, I get a JavaScript Application error (see attached screenshot) about NS_ERROR_FILE_IS_LOCKED and there is a mention of line 98, but when I look at line 98 in the coding it doesn't relate to anything mentioned in the error.  (Maybe I'm using the wrong program to look at line numbers?)

The wiki file is on a public drive here at work so that other employees can read the wiki, and as far as I know, there have been no changes in the security, permissions or firewall.

Looking for suggestions of what to check.

Thank you.

Zane

I should have mentioned.  When I go to view page source, line 98 simply says TertiaryPale: #eee  and is part of div title="ColorPalette"

The error message you are seeing comes from the firefox plugin, no from tiddlywiki itself. - this error may be due to the file privileges that are set for this file, or the file is being edited by another application  (this is part of your operating system, not tiddlywiki) - try looking at your tiddlywiki file via your file browser and have a look at the file permissions -what system are you using? (windows or mac or ....)

cheers

Hi Zane

It may also be worth trying copying your TW file to a different folder and trying from there,

Best wishes

I never got back to you......thank you, copying to a different folder worked fine.

Now I have another question.   We keep our page on a server so that everyone can read the posts from our IT Department.  We'd like to make the post read-only to everyone except the people, like myself, in the IT Department.  Is there a place we can set a true vs false setting so if anyone who is not in the IT Dept. wants to edit the pages they cannot do so.

Thank you.

Hi Zane

> Now I have another question.   We keep our page on a server so that everyone can read the posts from our IT Department.  We'd like to make the post read-only to everyone except the people, like myself, in the IT Department.  Is there a place we can set a true vs false setting so if anyone who is not in the IT Dept. wants to edit the pages they cannot do so.

The easiest way to accomplish that is to have the IT department staff access the wiki from a folder to which they have write access, while everyone else accesses it from a folder to which they do not have write access. If you're a Windows shop with Active Directory then I believe that such arrangements can be readily set up.

Ideally, the users who are not authorised to save changes wouldn't see the editing controls. We can do that by switching in the "Read Only" theme, but it's not particularly convenient for the people saving changes. There is a ticket about enhancing read-only mode:

Best wishes

Jeremy
