It recently came to my attention [1] that the latest TiddlyWiki
available for download at tiddlywiki.com is the current dev version of
TiddlyWiki.

I'm not sure how this happened, but as a result of this we now have a
broken version of TiddlyWiki available for download. I've not seen any
announcements, so am a bit confused to how this happened.

I've just downloaded a copy myself and I can see that this is the
latest dev version as the downloaded copy includes the changes made
here [2]
and [3] in its source. The commit for 2.6.5 is [4].

Could we clarify who is doing these releases and how as this is quite
worrying. Was this done in error?

Oh dear. I'm afraid that this is my mistake. Martin has recently
documented the tiddlywiki.com build process, which I've been following
to do the recent content updates. Getting everything set up is quite
fiddly, but it's then pretty simple to do a release. It looks like
either I made a mistake, or the instructions are wrong:

https://github.com/TiddlyWiki/tiddlywiki.com

I'm not around most of today to help track this down, I'm afraid, but
will be around later in the afternoon.

Cheers

Jeremy

I've fixed tiddlywiki.com back to the official 2.6.5 release, and will
update the documentation in github.com/TiddlyWiki/tiddlywiki.com

Cheers

I've now updated the documentation to make it clear that
tiddlywiki.com should used a tagged TiddlyWiki release.

I'm sorry you've been having problems. Do other java applets work for you in the same configuration?

Best wishes

Shouldn't it be 2.6.6? I thought that was an "official" release. Anyway, I use it in my Android devices without any problems (aside those with encoding of backups mentioned lately, but they probably are not connected with the 2.6.5->2.6.6 update; by the way, those can be connected with the issue mentioned by Chris [1]).

And yet, despite that Jeremy sais

currently the Download button leads to a TW v2.7.0 and the version macro (MainMenu, bottom) shows "2.7.0" (are those always the same versions?). Have I missed something?

My comment about restoring the 2.6.5 release was written in November 2011, after I had accidentally uploaded the alpha version.

I think Eric released 2.7.0 just before Christmas, although now that I look I can't find an announcement message.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Ah, I see. I wasn't attentive enough, sorry. There was an announcement indeed [1]. By the way, is it a constraint that the version of TiddlyWiki.com itself is the same as that of the empty.html in the archeive ("download" button)? I've got an idea that a tooltip "Download TiddlyWiki v2.7.0" would be a bit more helpful than just "Download TiddlyWiki".
