Hi all,

I have been a heavy user of TW5-searchNreplace plugin by Danielo Rodriguez http://danielorodriguez.com/TW5-searchNreplace/ Now I find that upgrading my wikies, it does not work anymore?
Anyone know of a solution?

Hi Birthe,

Will this not do what you want?

Hi Jon,

Thank you, but I do not think so. The TW5-searchNreplace is readily available i every tiddler. I have a lot of tiddlers where I often need to replace a few words for them to be reusable.

Ciao Birthe

I forwarded your message to Danielo because I'm not sure he reads here much.

His tool was excellent. In first instance he may want to update it for whatever is causing your recent issue.

Best wishes

Hi,

the $:/plugins/sk/FindReplace from http://skplugins.tiddlyspot.com/ also doesn't work anymore on. (It does the job only sometimes and then only one time).

Ciao Surya

Ok. Then looks like a serious backwards compatability problem!

Stephen's tool was good.

I forwarded your post to Stephen. I'm not sure he will read it. He is not active here often.

Whatever, I think this a case where, with two plugins with similar aims failing, help is needed from folk who understand what the issue could be.

Best wishes

Birthe,
While this not a total replacement for the great tool by Danielo, but if you install the official CodeMirror Editor and CodeMirror Search and Replace plugin!
The benefit here is Jeremy always keep them updated.

As far as immediate practical solutions go your own SNR in Tiddler Commander is pretty good: https://kookma.github.io/TW-Commander/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fkookma%2Fcommander%2Fsnr%2Fui

But I think the issue here is one of "backwards compatability" that is important for TW.

My 2 cents

Thank you, Mohammad,

I will certainly try that.

Hi all,

This is totally crazy. I just tested searchNreplace once more on TW 5.1.21. It did not work, then I tested FindReplace. I forgot to delete searchNreplace first...and what did I see, it now worked. Then I disablet FindReplace, and now searchNreplace did not work. After enabling FindReplace again...they both work.

I have absolutely no explanation. Am I hallucinating or are we having a new trend double plugins ;-)

Birthe

Perhaps installing each in an empty.html and reviewing which if any system tiddlers are overridden with give a clue
I think its [all[shadows+tiddlers]]

The trick would be if they are touching the same tiddler/s

Its a compatabilty issue I think. The fact its on/off makes it more complex.

A point in the thread is also Stephen's regex replace tool also fails. It is not just you.

It would be good to pin it down.

Hi Josiah,
Yes, that is true! I tried to use the latest features of Tiddlywiki!
Some are not available in older TW.

There's no guarantee for backwards compatibility for JS scripts.  That's the danger of using
3rd party tools that use JS instead of wikitext. But sometimes it's the only practical
choice, of course.

I'm working with 5.1.21 and my Find and Replace appears to be working as expected for me. There is an odd error that seems to be adding text to the end of the tiddler and I'm going to start work on correcting that.

Surya. Could you put a wiki up on tiddlyspot or send one to me directly that shows the problem you are having? That would be a big help in figuring out how to fix it.

Yea, sometimes it depends on moon phases. ... But you can fix that 2 times a year, if you visit Stonehenge  q;-)
