Dear All,

I have posted TiddlyMapTimelineResume to TiddlySpot

It mixes -- as the name suggests the two Js.viz plugins for TW with Jed's Resume Builder.

Have a look at the HelloThere View and the TimeLineCV to see timeline and map next to each other

Check out the "live view" map and the neighbourhood settings.

again, many thanks emkay, felix and kixam

This looks really neat. And useful,

The changes I made to the resume builder, and those that I am currently working on, should make it much easier to modify the resume builder so it gives the correct output for making the timelines..

Hi Alex

Terrific work, well done, this is a great example of what used to be called a "mashup"; they used to be fashionable in 2006! I'm not sure that the name did anyone any favours. I think it's more useful to think in terms of tool-making. But I remain deeply committed to the idea: for me, one of the key characteristics of TiddlyWiki is that it lowers the barriers for anyone to create their own tools/mashup without necessarily needing conventional programming skills.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Thanks Jeremy,

I did find myself typing "mashup" many time --- and rapidly deleting during the course of making the demo :)

Lowering barriers to tool making... yes... exactly!

One of the reasons I like the TW and the community around it is that the activity is focused on making thinking tools. Since I read something about the development of tools taking place alongside the development of the ideas I started to think about playing with TiddlyWikis as a kind of creative exercise in thinking about thinking. And having a community of people doing the same is hugely inspiring.

There's something about approaching a body of work obliquely, good things emerge by surprise when developing idea and tool -- there must be something in the creativity literature about this?

Thinking about it, new knowledge and new tools go hand, it somehow makes sense to have a "pet tool" to nurture. The viz.js additions, cover two critical dimensions to planning things: time and structure. They make it easier --- a lot easier -- to build up and keep on top of complex information. Concept map, Timeline and Wiki:  is there a more powerful combination?

@Felix and Kixam - I would be wonderful 1) if a view from a map could be included in a timeline in a similar way to groupTags or groupFields 2) you could click on a timeline and create a tiddler from there with start date automatically added.

Yes, good point.

I agree :)

This is already possible. TiddlyMap stores all node filters of a view in the following way (be aware that paths may change in the future):
  1. It creates a tiddler $:/plugins/felixhayashi/tiddlymap/graph/views/INSERTYOURVIEWNAMEHERE/filter/nodes
  2. And stores the tw-filter in a field called "filter".

Now you can use this filter and inject it in your timeline using the widget's filter-attribute.
