I’ve been making preparations for releasing 5.1.15 over this coming weekend, the 11th and 12th November — particularly prompted by the imminent Firefox Apocalypse.

I wanted to invite submissions for community links to go into the “Community” tiddler — I’m acutely aware that many recent projects are unlisted, and I’d welcome any help.

So far, I have done the following:

* Added a new tiddler about the Firefox Apocalypse
* Added a new graphic for the 5.1.15 release
* Added a few new community links for some recently released projects that happened to be open in my browser

My next step is to refactor the material about saving changes (the material within the Getting Started tiddler, and under the Working with TiddlyWiki/Saving section of the TOC). I’m intending to cover the following methods of saving changes:
  • Arlen’s updated TiddlyWiki in the Sky for Dropbox
  • AndTidWiki
  • Beaker Browser
  • Download Saver
  • HTA Hack
  • Node.js
  • Noteself
  • PHP/Upload script
  • Quine for iOS
  • savetiddlers
  • TiddlyDesktop
  • TiddlyDrive
  • TiddlyIE
  • TiddlySpot
  • WebDAV
Again, I’d welcome any suggestions for methods that I’ve left out.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Is TiddlyServer in there under a different name?

Does this mean we can count on TiddlySpot reviving in the next few days?

Hi Mark

Is TiddlyServer in there under a different name?

Thanks, no, that’s my mistake from juggling too many lists.

Does this mean we can count on TiddlySpot reviving in the next few days?

I’m still hoping/assuming that it will be up and running soon; it has occasionally failed in the past but Simon and Daniel have always fixed things up in due course.

Best wishes

Jeremy

Ciao Jeremy

It doesn't resolve for me fully at tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/#Firefox+Apocalypse

It does resolve at: tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/#Firefox%20Apocalypse

Thank you for this. I think it will address a lot of concerns and its great to have an overview resource to point to.

Best wishes
Josiah

Hi,
IMO 2 days heads-up is a bit view. ... Especially, since non of the of the resolved: "needs-work" pull requests have been merged. Not all of them have been resolved and still need work. ... but ... IMO several of them could have been merged. ... because some only missed the docs, which has been added. ...

----------- slightly related ..

There's also a new issue, https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/3004 that can help BJ and myself to communicate with  web-extension add ons.

My addOn (not published yet) doesn't need manual setup steps, to identify the "Downloads" subdirectory where the TW should be saved. ... But atm the user needs to save 2 times, the very first time, the plugin is active. I would like to have the possibility to inform the TW notification system, about this special behaviour. ....

-------------

Publishing your version this weekend is OK, if we could publish a "Santa-Edition" at the end of Nov. and a "Xmas-Edition" prior to the 20th Dec ... or so.

just some thoughts.

have fun!

Hi Mario

IMO 2 days heads-up is a bit view.

My apologies, I appreciate it is less than ideal.

Those are all reasonable issues, and my apologies for slow attention to them. But I think given the Firefox deadline we should push 5.1.15 out asap,.

Publishing your version this weekend is OK, if we could publish a "Santa-Edition" at the end of Nov. and a "Xmas-Edition" prior to the 20th Dec ... or so.

I’d welcome help to accomplish monthly releases,

Best wishes

Jeremy.

You are right, and I'm with you. ...

I'd really like to get an other one out till the end of Nov. and a second one shortly after.

Especially as I think we can improve the use of the new web-extensions that way. PRs will follow soon ;)

The only limiting element then is, that browsers restrict us to use the Downloads directory. ... But we may already know, how to work around this restriction, with the help of OS links and hardlinks. ...

Which imo makes this browser restriction useless, by design.
