Hi,

I want to remove some embedded .jpg images from my wiki but I don't want to delete the files. Dragging & dropping doesn't work and the export options aren't obvious.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jon.

Hi Jon,

I think the easiest thing to do seems to be to right click the rendered image and 'save as' - you'll probably need to rename them - and then delete the tiddlers. I agree the export options are confusing - there may be an easier way to get multiple images out and, if not, maybe there should be.

Regards,
Richard

Hi Jon

What browser are you using? I can drag images out of TW in all the desktop browsers I've tested, and on the iPad/iPhone I can save images tot he camera roll.

There's a ticket for adding a download link to make it easier to download images from TW:

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Thanks Richard and I noticed that the content of the right click menu changes depending on where the mouse is hovered. When it's over the image of the tiddler there is an option to "Save Image As" which isn't there when hovering over other part of tiddler.

Hi Jeremy, I'm using FireFox so possibly I'm doing something wrong. I was attempting to drag the myimage.jpg tiddler from the list below the search box to a separate folder but can't think how else to do it...?

Thanks,
Jon

Try opening the "myimage.jpg" tiddler and then drag the actual image out of the browser to a separate folder - in fact, it's the same procedure as for saving/dragging any image from the browser.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,

I hadn't tried but it's still not cooperating because if if I drag the image from the tiddler (in normal, non-edit mode) to a separate folder, it appears to create a shortcut with a file name like "dataimagejpeg;base64,9j4AAQSk.... etc"

Windows 7 & FireFox

Thanks,
Jon

You're right, it doesn't work properly for me in Firefox for Mac OS X either. Dragging images works fine for me in Chrome. So I guess that leaves right clicking on the image and choosing "save as".

As an FYI I tried to WGET my TW5 and the file downloaded, d'oh!!!
Since it is a single HTML file there was no spidering for the images.

Although all my images were canonical_uri so that might have been the reason but I don't think so.
Oh and a download all images button would be cool, would it per chance include canonical_uri's?

Thanks as always for all the help.

Hi Rich

If you turn off JavaScript and visit tiddlywiki.com you'll see that you get a (custom) static HTML rendering of some of the content of the wiki. That's what Google et al would see when spidering the page. In order to make the embedded images spiderable, we could adjust that static HTML fragment so that it includes all the _canonical_uri images defined in the wiki.

> Oh and a download all images button would be cool, would it per chance include canonical_uri's?

The problem here is that browsers don't properly support downloading lots of files in one go.

Best wishes

Jeremy.
