I think TiddlyDesktop is fascinating & clever.

I'm trying to understand it more ...

I'm interested in how you practically use TiddlyDesktop.

Do you use it via "file" or "folder" or "both" ..?

What computer system are you using it on ..?

Have you played with its "Backstage" ..?

Any issues you had ..? And any other thoughts about it?

TiddlyDesktop;

Given I also use TiddlyServer and other nodeJS instals on my Desktop for TW5, my key use of TiddlyDesktop is to host my 18Mb Classic TiddlyWiki which is a database and tool set I developed over a number of years I still need access to.

I expect to use it further in the future but it performs very well at this.

Regards
Tony

Oops

Windows 10, accessing TWClassic File on a 16GM Ram and SSD Laptop.

I have fiddled with the backstage, and want to use it to Host my TW Classic on the LAN but not yet worked out how.

I open it as needed then leave it open.

Right. I do think that TD lends itself well to such situations. Situations you need to use wikis in, kind of, "self-contained SETS". Say past archives. Or reference materials (say, a TD for: "Middle English texts"). Or series (say, a TD for: "Complete Scripts Of #PerryMason" )

Its very flexible too. Able to support Classic. Able to do both single file and .tid filled folders.

TBH, I think the "Backstage" of TD is potentially awesome. Effectively what you have is access to defining the overall look, feel & function of the TD "App" that organises it all.

I'm not a programmer so can't use it optimally yet. What I did figure out is how to, for instance, change the interface so that some options are no longer displayed (like add wiki / add folder). This opens the way to being able develop self contained TD's that are purely for an end user for a specific purpose and nothing more.

I haven't tried Desktop yet, but regular Tiddlywiki5 is great, and I'm using it for a number of things.  Is Desktop much different?

TiddlyDesktop is an application that lets you run and organise any number of TW, save them and back them up automatically without needing a browser. In that way it more resembles a conventional application. Its easy to set-up.
