Hi code masters.

Just a humble computer user trying to install Timimi onto Google Chrome [up to date version, 85.0.4183.102; Official Build; 64-bit] in macOS Catalina 10.15.6.
  1. Installed Timimi from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Checked the "Allow access to file URLs" option.
  3. Downloaded timimi-2-1-1-Mac from Github.
  4. But, running "timimi-2-1-1-Mac" opens a TextEdit.app window [see, please, attached screenshot].
Maybe, the "timimi-2-1-1-Mac" file is lacking a proper extension.

I found a post from Riz suggesting to run, one by one, the following Terminal commands:
  • cd ~/Downloads
  • chmod +x ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac
  • ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac
Here is their output:
  • enneco-gotzonares@EnekoGotzons-MacBook-Air ~ % cd ~/Downloads
  • enneco-gotzonares@EnekoGotzons-MacBook-Air Downloads % chmod +x ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac
  • chmod: ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac: No such file or directory
  • enneco-gotzonares@EnekoGotzons-MacBook-Air Downloads % ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac
  • zsh: no such file or directory: ./timimi-2-1-1-Mac
  • enneco-gotzonares@EnekoGotzons-MacBook-Air Downloads %
Maybe someone can help me getting "timimi-2-1-1-Mac" running.

Thank you, tech-future-makers.

Maybe your download is somewhere else? You can determine the download directory from the Downloads menu on Chrome (go to downloads, select open directory).

If you go to terminal and do

~/Downloads

what message do you get? Any errors. If not, what do you see if you do

ls timimi-2-1-1-Mac

An error, or a listing?

If it was me, I'd add an .sh extension. Then (from terminal, downloads directory) chmod

chmod 744 timimi-2-1-1-Mac.sh

then attempt to run again

./timimi-2-1-1-Mac.sh

I'm going based on linux experience. I don't have a Mac. But they're obviously similar at the command line.

HTH

Hi Mark. Thank you for taking care on my issue.
  • My Download directory is the one set as default by macOS: /Users/enneco-gotzonares/Downloads [being "enneco-gotzonares" the name of my user account].
  • The downloads location in Chrome is set to that same directory.
  • So, the downloaded timimi-2-1-1-Mac file seems to be located at the right place.
In Terminal, running:
  • "~/Downloads" gives "zsh: permission denied: /Users/enneco-gotzonares/Downloads"
  • "ls timimi-2-1-1-Mac" gives "ls: timimi-2-1-1-Mac: No such file or directory"
I believe that the issue maybe related to timimi-2-1-1-Mac lacking a proper extension but adding, as you suggest, .sh to timimi-2-1-1-Mac does not solve the stalemate, since the timimi-2-1-1-Mac.sh file is also open, by TextEdit.app, as if it was a text file.

Thank you for help me. Take care.

My mistake. I should have mentioned the cd command.

So from the terminal

cd /Users/enneco-gotzonares/Downloads

(cd means "change directory")

Then

ls -l timimi-2-1-1-Mac

(the -l means to give the full information about the file, including permissions)

Good luck!

Hi Mark. Thank you for helping me :)

In my Terminal.app, the command:
  • “cd /Users/enneco-gotzonares/Downloads” is accepted.
  • ls -l timimi-2-1-1-Mac” gives “-rw-r--r--@ 1 enneco-gotzonares  staff  4195233 Sep 24 13:27 timimi-2-1-1-Mac”.
So, it seems that I have read & write privileges on the file “timimi-2-1-1-Mac” [see the attached screenshot].

As just being a humble computer user, it seems that I am not able to get timimi-2-1-1-Mac running. Therefore, I will try another method to get the wonderful TiddlyWikis saved.

Thank you Mark❤ Take care.
