Hi everybody,

I would like to meve tiddler like on this old tiddlywiki (http://www.digitaldimsum.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/202.html)

Could we do the same thing in a TW5 ?

Thanks all,

Jan

Hi,
that is a wonderfull thing.
Eric from Tiddlytools.com made something similar for TWC with a plugin called movable panels.
I agree very much that this would be a great thing to have in TW5

Maybe, we can do something with a CSS ?

That is really cool. would be great to have it in TW5. This could also help in having a kind of "multi column layout"

Maybe with a storyview ?
Do you know to create one ?
I need to question the developper forum ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Del,
This would be brilliant but i think this would rather be a combination of theme and storyview... and I fear it is a little more complicated because locations, proportions and zoom of the tiddlers would have to be stored and modified somewhere (In Fields of the Tiddlers displayed? In a Pinboard-Tiddler?).
But I admit it would be worth the effort.
yours Jan

PS:
There is a promising but seemingly abandoned Project by Jeremy Ruston called cecily which had a very similar functionality. http://jermolene.com/cecily/

Hi Jan

There is a promising but seemingly abandoned Project by Jeremy Ruston called cecily which had a very similar functionality. http://jermolene.com/cecily/

Indeed, zooming user interfaces are a persistent interest of mine.

There is also a Cecily storyview plugin for TiddlyWiki5, but it is not complete. It is sufficient to do some effects like this:

Best wishes

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
thanks a lot for this hint, I knew there was something. What exactly does Cecily do in this presentation? The storyview seems to be switched to zoomin. If I choose Cecily it produces a horizontal row of tiddlers.

Hi Jan

The main story view is using zoomin, but in the tiddler I linked to there's an embedded substory that uses the Cecily storyview to visualise a selection of the slide tiddlers. If you dig around you'll find a JSON tiddler called CecilyMap that contains the X,Y positions of the displayed tiddlers.

Cecily places tiddlers according to the map if they are listed. Otherwise, in the present version, it lays out consecutive tiddlers in a horizontal line. The idea would be to have a selectable method for determining the positions of new tiddlers (eg, a mosaic, a horizontal or vertical stack).

Completely missing is the ability to drag and drop and resize tiddlers and have the map be automatically updated.

Best wishes

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
thanks a lot for these precious informations. Compared to the openness of the rest of the TW-project this looks like secret knowledge to me.
Even the controls remain constantly hidden even if you switch to another theme.
It would be nice if there was a cecily.tiddlyspot to play around with the possibilities.

It would be very interesting for mental maps and for presentations visualizing such relations. Combining this with something like impress.js would be great...

greetings Jan

Hi Del,
Another Idea:
have you had a look at TiddlyMap > http://tiddlymap.org/?
Tiddlers are represented by Icons so far...but there are very elaborate features. For example they are already movable by dragn'drop.

Hi,

I think "Cecily" it's the best idea.

We can test it in a plugin "zoomable story".

On my TW, I don't find the way to move and to resize the tiddlers.

Do you know why ?

Thanks all,

Cecily (TW5 plugin) I like for its minimalism. Its example is elegant: of "led teaching."

Jeremy there are two faults in it ...

-- Its "Tags" Tiddler leads nowhere. Its a dead end.

-- Its "Customisation" Tiddler is an orphan that is not linked to and its "onward" link is only to itself.

Best wishes
Josiah

Del

There is a very similar method already built into TiddlyWiki, this is on the tiddler view toolbar, most likely under More, "Open in New Window"

The resulting new windows do not stay within the browser tab which means they can be placed anywhere on your screens, great for multi-screen setups, and they can drive what occurs in the home tab, so open a TableOfContents tiddler in  a new window is very helpful.

If you want a more structured card layout try muri or muuri test / tiddlyTouch which is not opening as of writing this response http://muritest.tiddlyspot.com/

What would be ideal is if we could control and display the items opened in a new window a bit like we can in your TWC example.

Regards
Tony
